There are times in our lives when problems can feel overwhelming, painful, and difficult to face alone. Relying on friends and family may not always be a viable option. During our sessions, you can expect me to get to know you by listening and understanding your experiences. I provide feedback that you can apply to your everyday interactions. We will explore the thoughts, feelings, and reactions that arise in therapy and in your daily life. Whether you are looking for extra support during a challenging situation, want to change behaviors, need help processing PTSD, or simply wish to change direction in your life, I look forward to establishing a collaborative relationship with you on your life’s journey. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from evidence-based methods such as interpersonal psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, psychodynamic theory, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness meditation. I use aspects of these approaches to help you clarify issues, explore viable life options, and resolve problems, leading to psychological growth and experience. I not only help you resolve issues and challenging situations, but also assist you in determining your needs and finding ways to meet them. If you want to discover who you are individually or in the context of your relationships, I can help you learn about yourself and navigate the complexities of your relationships. Furthermore, I seek to promote personal growth and strengths, and to help you to discover your life’s purpose. I am committed to working with multiculturally diverse and minority individuals. I provide open and affirming therapy for the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as therapeutic support for individuals with neurodiverse conditions. Additionally, I enjoy working with college and graduate students dealing with issues related to college adjustment, ADHD, career choice, and daily life as a student. I look forward to hearing from you!

You look like you’re holding it together on the outside, but inside your mind never really slows down. Maybe you overthink everything after the fact, put pressure on yourself to get things “right,” or feel emotionally exhausted from constantly trying to keep up. Even when you finally have time to relax, your brain keeps going. The worry, self-doubt, and pressure can become overwhelming. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I work with people who struggle with anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, burnout, and feeling stuck in patterns that leave them mentally drained. Many of my clients are high-achieving, caring, and incredibly hard on themselves. They’re used to pushing through, but deep down they want to feel calmer, more grounded, and more like themselves again. Therapy with me is warm, supportive, and real. I want you to feel like you can show up exactly as you are here—without having to explain everything perfectly or pretend you’re doing okay when you’re not. Together, we’ll make sense of what’s been weighing on you and help you find ways to quiet the constant mental noise. I won’t just sit back and nod. I’ll gently guide you, help you notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and offer practical tools that actually fit your life. At the same time, we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can finally exhale a little. A place where you feel understood, supported, and less alone in what you’re carrying. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. If this resonates with you, I’d love to connect.

I graduated from Michigan State University with a Master of Social Work degree in 2021. I am fluent in Spanish and have specialized training in working with trauma and psychosis related distress as well as experience working with anxiety, depression, and managing overall life stress. In addition, my training offered experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse using the evidence-based trauma treatment model cognitive processing therapy. I believe that every individual is the expert of their experience and is deserving of a safe space where they can express themselves and feel heard. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and empowerment-focused. I aim to highlight the individual resilience and strengths of each person as they work towards their goals, empowering and supporting individuals through their unique wellness journeys.

I graduated from Michigan State University with a Master of Social Work degree in 2007. Since this time, I have spent my career working with adults and young adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns with special attention to distress related to depression, anxiety, life transition, psychosis, mania, self-esteem, and loss. Although I have specialized training in CBTp (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis), IRT (Individual Resiliency Trainer), and CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), I also recognize that each individual arrives in therapy for different reasons. As a practitioner who values self-determination and the individual wisdom of each of my clients, I aim to find what is most helpful to each person based on their unique needs. Therefore, I see my role as offering space to support the personal growth process for those in distress or in search for greater meaning in their life. This may be through cognitive restructuring, behavioral experimentation, compassion-focused techniques, acceptance and commitment strategies or through the interpersonal process.

Emotional pain cannot kill you, but running from it can. Allow. Embrace. Let yourself feel. Let yourself heal. – Vironika Tugaleva My approach to therapy is rooted in understanding, compassion, and evidence-based techniques. Being with me feels relaxed, approachable, and genuine, much like a comforting chat over coffee. I firmly believe that therapy is a collaborative journey where the therapist and client work hand in hand to navigate challenges and seek growth. My style is both empathetic and proactive, aiming to help individuals reframe unhelpful thought patterns and build effective coping mechanisms. While specific modalities like CBT and DBT are cornerstones of my practice, it’s the genuine connection and trust we build together that truly facilitates change. Prior to joining Therapy Today, I earned my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Michigan. I have worked extensively with children, teens, and young adults in an outpatient setting, guiding them through their unique journeys and challenges. I have worked with a diverse range of individuals, from young children navigating early life experiences, to teens addressing mental health challenges, to parents seeking guidance on managing their children’s behaviors. My methods have been tailored to each demographic, always prioritizing the individual’s unique needs and context.

I believe that therapy is a partnership where you and I work together to achieve your chosen goals. While I can draw upon my skills, experience, education and training to offer coping skills, new perspectives, and options, I believe that you are the expert in your own lived experience. I understand that you may be new to therapy, or have had negative experiences with therapy in the past. I hope to offer a safe space through non-judgmental, compassionate responses to help you overcome the challenges you are facing. I have 26 years of experience providing advocacy for survivors of domestic violence from diverse backgrounds. I have supported numerous survivors who have experienced anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and/or systems-induced trauma (trauma induced from the criminal legal system, the family courts, and CPS). I have been a member of Reimagining Transformative Community Services since 2020, a group dedicated to building community capacity to address harms as an alternative to systems that create more harm. I have been licensed in Clinical and Macro Practice since 2014. I grew up in Lansing, MI. I still live in the area because there is a lot to do here, yet it only takes 15-20 minutes to get anywhere by car. I love to cook and spend time with my dog. My dream job is to be a stay-at-home dog mom. Until then, I work to normalize therapy, help people get to better places in their lives, and advocate for community care in addition to self-care.

People seek out a therapist for a variety of reasons-day-to-day life stressors, unhelpful thoughts, or significant life transitions. I want to provide people with a space where they can process any of these topics in a compassionate and empathetic manner. Therapy is a journey and I seek to walk this journey by your side while empowering you to explore, identify, and live the best versions of your life. Prior to working at Therapy Today, I worked at Community Mental health for nearly a decade in various roles and with various populations. I have also worked in a residential treatment facility for youth. In both roles, I provided individual and group therapy and I worked with youth and their families in navigating family dynamics and systems.

When it comes to therapy, I engage each person, focusing on their uniqueness and the reason they are seeking therapy. I applaud everyone that has made the decision to be proactive regarding their mental health and to put forth the effort to address circumstances, either past or present, that have caused disruptions and undesired outcomes in their lives. I would like to support you in any way I can to produce positive outcomes in the most ethical, professional, and compassion filled way possible. I have 13 years of social service experience, working with the homeless population, for Child Protective Services, with employment services for homeless veterans, managing transitional housing facilities, and working inpatient psychiatric patient care in the state of Michigan in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb county. My career experience also includes military, as I have served active duty in the United States Marines and volunteered to deploy to Iraq (bordering Syria) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A former supervisor of mine used to say, “nothing changes until it changes.” I’m here to help you take that first step. As a therapist, I know that few things are as important to the process of therapy as the working relationship between the client and their therapist. This is why I approach every session and every client with empathy, warmth, and unconditional positive regard. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is safe and non-judgmental – where you are the expert of your own experience, where you feel validated at the intersection of your various identities, and where you feel understood as a whole person. I always maintain a client-centered and strengths-based approach to help you become the ideal version of yourself. I want to build your trust in me so that I can support you through difficult and painful times. In a world that stigmatizes mental health challenges, I seek to normalize, validate, and educate. I graduated with my MSW from the University of Michigan in 2022, where I worked as a therapist at the University’s counseling center, providing therapy to students. Prior to that, I gained case management experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I have experience working with individuals of various nationalities; cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds; religious groups; gender identities; sexual orientations; and more! I also have worked with clients experiencing a range of mental health challenges and diagnoses, including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, ADHD, adjustment challenges, sexuality and gender identity concerns, identity development, and substance use.

I believe that therapy is a safe and non-judgmental place for clients to explore what is most important to them. It is important to me to relate to clients as whole people, who are much more than the concerns they bring to session, but people with unique identities, experiences, relationships, communities, and strengths. Keeping all of these in mind helps me offer personalized guidance, support, and perspective that ultimately serves client’s own goals. It is truly an honor to witness these various facets of individuals, and I am dedicated to bringing the warmth, respect, and support that clients deserve in turn. My past experiences have been in community settings working with women diverted from the criminal justice system for substance use disorder treatment and working with people with severe and persistent mental illness. Outside of the mental health/behavioral health field, I have experience supporting elderly persons with dementia and doing research with chronic pain populations along with LGBTQ+ populations.
