Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigate severe anxiety, depression, life transitions, phobias, grief, gender or identity issues, boundaries and self-care, interpersonal relationships, and trauma. Whether you're a teenager struggling with self-esteem or self-harm thoughts, an adult working through a major life change, or a couple looking to rebuild connection, this is a nonjudgemental space where you are heard, understood, and supported while exploring your own desires, motivations, and needs. For teens, I offer the tools to manage the pressures of school, home, and everyday life. For adults, we work together to untangle the weight of anxiety, depression, stress, and transitions so you can craft a clear path toward your goals. For couples, the focus is on rediscovering what it means to be a team, navigating conflict resolution and codependency, and building the communication skills and trust to get there. No matter what you’re facing, I believe every person has the capacity not only to overcome challenges but to truly thrive. My role is to be a guide as you do exactly that – provide the environment where you can better yourself and shed unhealthy patterns. If you’ve found yourself encountering obstacles and seeking ways to move forward, please reach out today. My work is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and a genuine belief in your ability to grow, in a safe, collaborative, and calm environment. Life moves fast, and the thoughts that come with it can quickly become overwhelming, which is why I help you slow down, untangle what's weighing on you, and build self-awareness so you can move forward with clarity and intention. Depending on your needs, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and person-centered approaches. Each method serves a different purpose: CBT and person-centered therapies help you explore different parts of yourself with insight and compassion; DBT and IFS offer practical skills and tools to grow while gaining personal insights. No matter the approach, you can always expect warmth, directness, and yes, humor. This is a space where you lead, and where we can go deep when the moment calls for it. Whether you're working through unhealthy habits in life, resolving negative patterns in a relationship, navigating personal challenges, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, the goal is always the same: to meet you where you are, uncover the conflicts holding you back, and help you get where you want to be. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own experience with family therapy, where I learned about myself and how to build healthier connections with the people closest to me. In college, I volunteered for 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, and found real meaning in being able to offer that same kind of safe, supportive space for others. These experiences led me to Florida State University, where I earned both a Master of Science and an Education Specialist in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology and a double major in Business Management. That combination of lived experience and academic grounding shaped the kind of therapist I set out to become: one who brings both empathy and honest guidance into every session. Authentic connection and meaningful conversation are at the heart of this work, and I look forward to walking alongside you in yours. Outside of the therapy room, you'll find me running, getting lost in a good book, playing board games, discovering new music, or sitting down to a great meal. Staying curious and continuing to learn are values I carry into every area of my life, including my work with you.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my work is rooted in helping teens and adults navigate complex trauma, late-diagnosed or suspected neurodivergent experiences, and the deeper questions of identity, relationships, and purpose. Whether you're processing a difficult life transition, untangling a late diagnosis of autism or ADHD, or beginning to understand how past experiences have shaped who you are today, I'm here to help you find clarity, connection, and a path forward. I believe in the power of connection and the idea that every part of you has value, which helps me be a genuine partner in building something that actually works for you. There’s no clipboard here, no one-size-fits-all plan handed down without context. Together, we'll explore who you are, tinker with the pieces, and discover the purpose you came here to find. You can expect warmth, honesty, and a comfortable space that feels both safe and genuine throughout our time together. Drawing on humanistic, neuroscience-based, attachment theory, and solution-focused approaches, we'll explore your relationships, emotions, identity, and purpose in a way that's collaborative from the start. Your plan is built with you, not for you, because your needs, experiences, and goals are the compass for everything we do together. Authentic and curious by nature, I believe that all parts of a person are worth examining and none of them are broken. That conviction shows up in every session. My path to becoming a therapist began in grief counseling and restorative justice intervention, where I witnessed firsthand how much a genuine human connection could change someone's trajectory. That experience deepened my commitment to relationship-centered care, where the therapeutic connection itself is part of the healing process. More than 10 years of advanced training from CU Boulder and Northwestern University ground my clinical practice, but what I bring to the work goes beyond a résumé: vulnerable humanity, genuine curiosity, and the occasional well-timed laugh. Outside of sessions, you'll find me in the boxing gym, tending to my aquariums, or playing percussion in bluegrass and folk music. These pursuits keep me grounded, present, and endlessly curious, qualities I carry into every session with you.
As a Clinical Social Work Candidate and Addictions Counselor Candidate, I specialize in mental health support and dual-diagnostic treatment for adults and adolescents. This support includes helping patients navigate co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, stress and anxiety, perfectionism, emotion-regulation difficulties, and challenges in relationships or daily functioning. My experience also extends to supporting previously incarcerated individuals as they navigate their reintegration process. No matter what you’re facing, we develop practical skills together for managing symptoms, creating meaningful life changes, and strengthening your relationships and self-understanding. I believe in meeting you wherever you are in each moment, whether you're processing challenges, celebrating strengths, building skills, or exploring new goals. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey! My clinical approach is trauma-informed and holistic, recognizing the interconnectedness of your values, relationships, and life experiences. Using skills-based, strengths-based, and emotion-focused interventions, I support your healing and lasting change in a warm, goal-oriented space grounded in empathy and validation for your unique experience. While I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor interventions to align with your values, life context, and goals. My path to becoming a therapist grew from my own lived experience with mental health and a genuine passion for connection and growth. Volunteer work alongside my clinical experience has also deepened my understanding of our shared humanity, regardless of what we’ve been through or where we come from, and strengthened my commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed care. This combination of lived experience and clinical practice allows me to provide you with meaningful care. I love traveling, exploring cute coffee shops and restaurants, golfing, board game nights, and anything involving quality time with friends and family.
There is no “right” way to do therapy, and people need different kinds of help depending on their current life situation and stage of life. Some clients are in need of coping skills to help them with communication, emotion regulation and getting through stressful times. Other clients are looking for help finding meaning and purpose in their day to day lives. I use a combination of mindfulness, dream work, interpersonal skills, guided meditation, coping skills and active imagination to help clients find relief from symptoms related to anxiety, depression, lack of meaning, and struggles in their relationships. Over the last 25 years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings helping people with various psychological difficulties including combat related issues, severe and persistent mental illness, cumulative relational trauma, psychological struggles related to brain injury, and trauma related to disasters and violence. I believe the goal of therapy is not necessarily to help clients pursue a “happier” life, or even self-awareness for the sake of self-awareness, but to better be able to bring a more soulful way of living back out into their lives; their families and relationships, communities, and the greater world.
With an integrative approach to practicing therapy modalities, I have a professional focus centered on humanistic, experiential, and mindfulness styles. I utilize Person-Centered Therapy (Client-Centered/Rogerian), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Gestalt Therapy (Experiential), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Existential Therapy. I believe in approaching the therapy relationship in a collaborative and supportive manner to help facilitate the process of growth and change.

Additionally, I work with individuals who identify as Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) or Empaths and have experienced childhood relational trauma. I offer contemplative somatic psychotherapy and coaching services. This therapeutic method focuses on understanding how emotions and experiences are stored in the body and utilizes techniques to promote healing, self-awareness, and personal growth.
At some point, many people realize that what they're doing is no longer working, but they're not sure what to do to fix it. I specialize in people (13+) and families who are dealing with conflict, self-defeating behaviors, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, loneliness, relationship issues, low self-esteem, or questions of identity. Through my practice, I've successfully helped clients move past issues that have blocked them from living fully, completely, and whole-heartedly. While working with me, they've been able to find more joy, happiness, success, and peace in the areas of their life that matter most to them. Together, we'll build your self-awareness, develop clarity on your goals and values, and foster an understanding of where you're coming from and where you'd like to go. I use several evidence-based modalities to help my clients do that, but the most important aspect of my practice is my relational, non-judgmental, open, direct, and clear approach. My work matters deeply to me and I feel a strong calling to give my clients my best, session after session. There's no better feeling I get than when my clients sense their progress and recognize that their life is changing in ways they've always longed for. If any of this has resonated with you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's talk.

Throughout my 25 years of experience, I have worked with a wide range of counseling and therapy modalities. I'm bilingual in English and Hebrew and can offer services in both languages. My practice is about helping you connect to your most authentic self to create a more meaningful life, using a blend of somatic awareness, mindfulness practices, and compassionate guidance. As a somatic therapist, I take a body-based, trauma-informed approach that helps clients better regulate emotions and stress by developing greater mind-body awareness. If you've struggled with anxiety, depression, trauma, or just the ups and downs of life, and you've found that thinking or talking about it has not brought you sustained relief, then body-based psychotherapy might be the right fit for you. In a world where we are often told to "push through" and "tough it out" we can lose our connection to what we are feeling. When we connect to our feelings we can better recognize what we truly need, and take the steps to cultivate a life full of purpose, meaning, and fulfillment. Many of my clients are young adults navigating transitions such as starting college or careers, wanting to build healthier and more meaningful relationships, or exploring their sense of identity and purpose. Together, we’ll explore therapeutic strategies that align with your unique needs and goals. In our sessions, we can work on stress and anxiety reduction, processing trauma, developing greater self compassion and awareness, and more. Hey! My name is Elena, I use she/her pronouns, and I work with rebels, rioters, and revolutionaries. My practice is one that centers and celebrates authenticity, courageous exploration, and a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. In practice, this can look like taking the time to build trust and connection, pulling from a wide variety of modalities, and curiosity and silliness when needed (which I believe is often!) I have seen many therapists feel the need to rush into “fixing”; in my work, there is no rush and there is no “fixing”. Together, we will sit in the messy experience of being human; exploring and learning from our pain while uplifting and celebrating the joys. We will co-create your therapy experience, making it into whatever you need it to be in order to feel as safe as possible. I bring an anti-oppression and decolonization lens to the work of therapy, as this helps to ensure that I do my best to mitigate the harmful impacts of these systemic issues in the healing space. I will certainly make mistakes. I hope you do, too! These are opportunities for both of us to practice collective learning, unlearning, and healing. I believe that therapy is community. We may share certain identities and there will be those we do not share, yet it remains a community. Let's be in joyous community together!
