Let's get started to build upon your body-mind connection - pulling your nervous system into today. Please do not let finances stop you from reaching out - I have a number of session times I allocate to a sliding scale to allow therapy to be affordable to you.

Life is too short to stay stuck in behaviors, relationships, and patterns that detract rather than enhance our lives. At some point in all of our lives, we are likely to find ourselves stagnant and in need of a change, unsure which direction to go in a time of transition, or just dissatisfied and maybe not even sure why. It can be difficult to know where and how to begin the journey to change and growth. Or even to know what you want that change to be right now. If this resonates with you, know that you are not the only one! Therapy can provide the structure and support to identify what isn't working for you, what you would like to do about it, and how to create the change you want for yourself. I love working with adolescents and adults who are curious about how life could be better for them and committed to the work it takes to find meaning, peace, and satisfaction. Making the decision to seek the support of a therapist takes courage and can be really daunting. Get to know more about me, my approach, and if I might be a good fit for your needs by visiting my website. Or (deep breath) giving me a call. I'd love to hear from you!
Hi, I’m Kara! College can bring both exciting opportunities and overwhelming stress. Sometimes past experiences or unresolved trauma make it even harder to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, and figuring out your future. If you’ve ever felt stuck, anxious, or like your emotions are “too much,” you’re not alone. I specialize in trauma therapy using EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, two evidence-based approaches that help your mind and body process painful experiences so you don’t have to stay stuck in the past. My work is also grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other trauma-informed, attachment-based models. Together, we’ll work to help you understand and manage stress, anxiety, and depression, heal from relationship wounds or painful past experiences, build resilience and expand your capacity to handle life’s ups and downs, and feel more grounded, confident, and connected. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR Certified, and have completed 3 years of training with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. My approach is collaborative, holistic, and tailored to your needs. If you’d like to learn more, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. Reach out by phone or email- I’d love to connect with you.

I recognize the profound courage it takes to confront one’s inner world, and I strive to create a safe, affirming, and open space for genuine exploration. If you’re seeking meaningful conversations about the essence and complexity of being human and what it is to be a conscious animal on a giant rock flying through space, I am the therapist for you. Alongside therapeutic work, I am passionate about the different tools that we can use in order to initiate holistic healing, including things like: nutrition, meditation, exercise, community, spiritual practices, 12-step programs, rest and fun (yes-even fun)! I particularly enjoy working with clients through the following: establishing boundaries, relational issues, differentiation from family, adult children of divorce, adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families, those who have a loved one with mental illness, life transition, grief, premarital, and couples seeking to improve their communication. I welcome you to my office to explore your struggles, to change what you can, to accept and grieve what you can't and to celebrate the good that comes along the way.
Most of the students I work with are figuring out who they are while juggling school, family, friendships, and their future. Many feel the weight of being “the strong one” for everyone else, but behind closed doors they’re tired, anxious, or questioning if they’re enough. Some are navigating being away from home for the first time, carrying family expectations, or balancing the pressure to succeed with the need to just breathe. Others feel out of place on campus and want a space where they don’t have to explain themselves or code-switch. I connect best with young people under 25 who are ready for honest conversations, who value a therapist that will both listen deeply and challenge them to grow. My goal is to give you room to unpack your story, understand your emotions, and figure out how to move through stress, relationships, and identity with more clarity and confidence.

She believes that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is an integral part of the therapeutic journey and having a good fit where clients feel safe, comfortable, and respected is of the utmost importance to her. When not in session, Corisa can be found practicing yoga at her neighborhood studio, birding in a local park, taking in a new independent film, or off exploring local restaurants and dives. Outside of that, she loves spending time outside as often as possible and is always planning her next travel destination with friends or with her partner in their built-out transit van.
My clients don't come to therapy to hear someone nod and agree with everything they say. That isn't worth their time or money. They want real help. They want to know "what to do" and "how to fix it" because they are struggling with depression, severe anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, suicidal thoughts, parenting issues, and other painful situations. They're looking for a true expert that they can actually talk to. I am a member of PSYPACT which means I can see clients in every state that is a member of PSYPACT. I'm also licensed in both TN and MA. I'm a DBT-Linehan Board Certified Clinician and an expert in Borderline Personality Disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, self-harm, and oppositional adolescents. I am an Associate faculty member at Vanderbilt University and have served as a trainer and consultant for a variety of hospitals, schools, and the military. I founded and own PSYCHē, PLLC, a private network of therapists across multiple states. Our job is to pair our clients with great clinicians all over the country. PSYCHē also offers various Standard DBT skills groups and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) skills classes online ranging from $100-$125. New members can begin right away! Visit www.psychepllc.com/groups for more information about groups, meeting times, or to enroll online. Changing people's lives for the better is my life's purpose and where I get a sense of meaning. I love my job :) I look forward to meeting you.
Sometimes it's tough to go it alone. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and support, whether we're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, gender identity, sexual orientation, or general life stress. Kudos to you for taking the first step. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults, and together we figure out a plan on how to move through whatever's going on. You know more than you think you do - and we will navigate the challenges together.
