Together, we've found their resilience and healing. Our time together is about you. You know yourself best and we will pair that with 30+ years of my professional and personal experience, to help you achieve what you want from therapy - more joy, more peace, better communication, etc. I will work with you in a compassionate, inclusive, productive way to help you get to where you want to be. Taking the first step is brave. Please call or email and schedule an initial meeting. Currently providing in person and virtual therapy in PA, and virtual therapy in IL, RI, and MI.
I HOPE TO PROVIDE AN UNDERSTANDING, EMPATHETIC SPACE FOR YOU TO BRING YOUR CHALLENGES, WORRIES, OR FEARS. MY CORE BELIEF IS THAT EACH PERSON IS THE EXPERT OF THEIR OWN STORY AND THEREFORE HAS THE POWER WITHIN THEM FOR PRODUCTIVE GROWTH. SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED SOME GENTLE GUIDANCE ALONG THE WAY AND THAT'S WHERE I COME IN! I UTILIZE MULTIPLE THERAPEUTIC TECHNIQUES AND CREATIVE INTERVENTIONS TO TAILOR EACH SESSION TO MEET YOUR UNIQUE NEEDS AT THAT MOMENT. SOME OF THESE TECHNIQUES MAY FOCUS ON WELLNESS, SYMPTOM TRACKING, AWARENESS, THOUGHT REFRAMING, ETC. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT A PERSON'S UNIQUE EXPERIENCES DEEPLY AFFECT THEM AND SO I OFTEN APPROACH COUNSELING THROUGH A TRAUMA-INFORMED LENS. THE THERAPEUTIC PROCESS IS A CONSTANTLY CHANGING JOURNEY THAT REQUIRES DIFFERENT PIECES AT EACH STAGE. I WILL BE WITH YOU ALONG THIS JOURNEY, THINKING OF CREATIVE WAYS TO ADDRESS YOUR NEEDS AND ALWAYS PROVIDING YOU WITH SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.
I know each individual is universally unique which means our thoughts, feelings and perceptions are also unique. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I use a range of modalities including ACT, DBT, CBT, and Mindfulness as well as approaches catered to meet your individual needs and help support your holistic wellness. I specialize in working with adults who are college- aged who are dealing with a wide range of experiences. I have experience working with adults experiencing addiction issues, mood disorders, behavioral issues, sexual issues and relationship issues. Additionally, I specialize in anxiety and depression and have experience working with folks 17 and over. I have worked in both community mental health and outpatient settings. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and finding the right person to assist on the journey can feel daunting. I provide a welcoming environment, flexible scheduling and access to community resources as needed. If you would like to discuss scheduling I encourage you to reach out and start your journey to healing and wellness.
Many of us have been emotionally wounded by family members, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and/or strangers. Psychological suffering can take on many forms, showing up in our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. Sometimes it can be experienced as sadness, depression, worry, anxiety, etc. This form of suffering, while painful, often points to the parts of ourselves that invite healing. And while the challenges of living with such experiences can be immense, they also present opportunities for growth. The truth is that you can find peace of mind, solace in your heart, and live joyfully, regardless of your past. I offer a caring, non-judgmental space where you can re-discover your ability to heal. Like the alchemist who was said to transmute base materials into gold, as a depth psychologist, I can help you transform your tragedies into triumphs. And like the phoenix who rises from the ashes, I can help you rise from despair, so that you can become your true self. Knowing that taking this step toward your own healing involves vulnerability and courage, I am filled with gratitude and look forward to speaking with you, learning how I can be of support. I welcome your questions and am both honored and humbled to be part of your journey. May you be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Hi! I'm Heather, and I work with trauma survivors, high achievers, and people with lots of anxiety. While I work with all kinds of trauma, my most significant experience is at the intersections of religious trauma and LGBTQ+ identities, and/or high intelligence. I like working with people who want to understand why they do the things they do, or who already know but can't seem to stop doing them.
Therapy is a process. When looking for a therapist, you want someone who can see your goals and provide insight into how they can become reality. Therapy isn’t something that you can just come into one session and be magically healed. When I say therapy is a process, I mean, that therapy comes with challenges, but also rewards. If you can be completely open and honest in this process, I can promise that I will not only work to be a guiding light in this fog you are walking through, but also someone who is going to challenge you and help you bring your inner dialogue out. When I am working with a client, I will bring strategies that you can implement, challenging questions, and overwhelming support. There are going to be days where you may feel like giving up on your ideas, dreams, or passions but I want to remind you that resilience isn’t just about being able to take pain, but resilience is fighting for a future you want. I work with a multitude of specialities including beauty standards, colorism, stress from the political climate, trauma responses, parenting and how your childhood impacts this, social anxiety. Some of the specialties that I focus on are Beauty standard/colorism. We live in a society where European standards seem to be the beauty standard but beauty comes in different shades as well as different shapes. It’s not society‘s job to tell you what makes you beautiful, it’s your own job to remind you that you are beautiful the way you are And how you interpret that in your day-to-day life. Identity also plays a part in my specialties. Being a biracial woman myself, I hold space for Multiple aspects of identity. Every person you know has intersectional pieces of their identity and what I work on is understanding those pieces and how they work to frame your decisions, choices and life. Working through trauma experiences can be difficult. Things that you may not even think to be triggers such as certain sounds you hear, a song that plays at a restaurant, or even the smell of a cologne can completely change your mood. I specialize in working through trauma experiences due to incest. Especially if these experiences are continuing to impact you through the role of a parent. As a parent, you’re already going through mental gymnastics, whether or not you should let your kid out to be at a sleepover party or finding that they have a group of friends that were similar to yours as a kid. Rather than internalizing these fears, I want to create an open discussion where we can process your feelings and thoughts, give you validity to your emotions, but also give you the better understanding that all these emotions still impact your child. Lastly, in the climate that we’re in, politics should not be an issue we avoid. Whether you are on the right or left side, there are things that are happening in current news today that may be impacting you emotionally, financially, and maybe even physically. As your therapist, I’m here to not only just listen to you but also give you the chance to have your voice heard even if you have family with opposing views, friends with opposing views or even neighbors. The therapeutic process does not need to be one that is shortened by fear. Coming into a therapy session, I want you to feel like you have room to talk and that someone is actually listening. This isn’t just an hour of your time that you hope your therapist is making it a safe space but it’s an hour of your time that you were working towards a goal, something that you want in life. I don’t want to just create a safe space for you, I want to help you create a space where your inner thoughts can be heard, validated and respected.
Guided by values of nonjudgment, curiosity, nonviolence, and compassion for all beings; We understand healing as an intentional process of cultivating healthy, respectful, and authentic relationships with ourselves, with others, and with our wider community. We aim to serve and strengthen our community by helping to reduce stigma and expand understanding around mental health and wellbeing, while increasing awareness of the interpersonal, social, cultural, and physical environments that may help or hinder development. We acknowledge and work to change harmful systems, beliefs, and conditions; and support individuals to live in alignment with their values and live with agency, dignity, and joy within these contexts. We believe that growth and meaningful change can occur at any stage of life and are essential for lasting mental health. We approach our work with reverence and humility, and consider it a privilege to serve and support you on life's journey.
In our initial sessions, I will encourage you to engage in activities that nurture your emotional, social, spiritual, and environmental well-being. I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. Together, we’ll work to uncover your inner strengths and coping strategies, helping you move toward healing, growth, and recovery. My passion for this work stems from a commitment to helping individuals recognize their own potential and navigate life’s challenges with resilience. My goal is to guide you on your journey to a more fulfilling, balanced life.
Hi there! Our goal at Fortified Souls is to provide you with support, empathy, and honesty for whatever you may be struggling with. We’ll help you cultivate skills to use outside of counseling, and provide an environment that is safe and empowering in the process.
I am an LCSW with over 31yrs. of experience in the medical social work field. I see clients with acute/chronic illness, caregiver support, grief and bereavement and women's health issues. I work with clients in a structured wellness approach to look at what they are able to control in their lives vs. what is out of control. I assist with helping clients find tools to deal with anxiety and depression around the above focus areas.
You're tired of putting yourself out there and not finding your "person". You've tried multiple therapists but just can't seem to connect. And without that connection, opening up and really digging in is hard. So you remain stagnant. You want to feel safe and supported, but also want someone to finally be blunt with you about what may be holding you back--and what may actually HELP. You're tired of merely surviving--you want to FINALLY feel like you are living authentically and truly thriving. You want someone to challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone, but also make this shit a little less scary. I use humor and laughter, openness and authenticity, and most importantly, foul language, to create a safe, explorative environment where we can really dig into what has been holding you back--together. I can be direct and to the point, and sometimes a bit crass and unconventional. But I will also be your strongest advocate and biggest cheerleader. What I love most about what I do is being able to walk alongside someone who is finding their own way, and being able to witness just how resilient our spirits can be. Asking for a little help isn't a sign of failure--it's a sign of courage. And a sign of a badass who refuses to get in their own way. Reach out to see if we may be a good fit! Let's do this! Open Space CCW is a LGBTQIA+ and relationship minority affirming group practice whose mission is to help people move from merely surviving their lives, to truly thriving.
Our mission is to improve our client’s quality of life by offering affordable, compassionate, person-centered, and culturally responsive care to individuals across the lifespan
Let’s be real. Life is hard. It is messy and crazy and sometimes, it just feels out of control. Your space is a mess, your roommates are on your last nerve, you have a major assignment to work on, and you just cannot get a moment to think straight. Then there’s that thought in the background that you’re not doing enough, that you’re not enough. You’re questioning yourself and feeling overwhelmed. College is hard. This phase of life is hard. Feeling the pressure to succeed can feel unbearable. This is where therapy comes in. To learn how to address these thoughts & emotions in a safe space and develop a plan of action to move forward, feeling confident in yourself.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck? Life can be difficult to navigate and sometimes we need an unbiased ear to listen and support us on our journey. Together we can work to help you achieve your goals and get the most out of life. I look forward to helping you be the best version of yourself.
Welcome! Whether you are beginning your therapeutic journey for the first time or returning to continue your progress, I am so glad you’re here. Starting therapy is a significant step towards self-discovery and healing, and I commend you for taking it! I have a profound commitment to assisting individuals, especially young adults, who are dealing with trauma and anxiety. These experiences can be challenging and often overwhelming, affecting various aspects of life. My specialization in trauma therapy provides you with a safe, supportive space to explore and heal from past experiences. Similarly, my experience in anxiety management can support you in understanding and overcoming the symptoms that may be impacting your daily life. I have worked in Community Mental Health for over three years where meeting with clients in some of their darkest times has influenced me to take specified approaches to therapy. I create a relaxed atmosphere with an informal, friendly communication style, allowing you to express yourself freely. I work alongside you, guiding and supporting your journey with an approach tailored to your needs, and your feedback is invaluable for productive sessions.
Change can be hard, but I'm here to support you. My clients are often in transition, whether they're adapting to a new school or city, experiencing a change in relationships, coping with loss, managing a new health condition, coming out, or simply reflecting on their goals in a new light. If that resonates with you, I want to help you flourish. Depression, anxiety, impulse control issues, and traumatic stress make it harder to navigate change. I have experience serving clients who are working to overcome these mental health challenges. In our first session, we’ll talk about what brings you to counseling, your strengths, the things you value, and where you want your life to go. I aim for you to leave feeling hopeful. My style is genuine and straightforward - I want therapy to take the weight off your shoulders. Please give me a call or send me an email if you'd like to get started!
