Do you struggle with setting boundaries, people pleasing, or burning out from perfectionism and a constantly full calendar? Maybe you're juggling school, work, relationships, family expectations, and everything else life throws at you while still feeling like you should be doing more. You might be the person others turn to, but underneath the surface, you're anxious, overwhelmed, or struggling with self doubt. I'm an LCSW with 9 years of experience working with college students and professionals, with a focus on the queer community, neurodivergent individuals, and people living with chronic illness. I've supported clients navigating ADHD, anxiety, burnout, LGBTQ+ identity, complex family and relationship dynamics, substance use, and trauma. I'm trained in CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and executive functioning strategies. It can be challenging to balance everyday life while figuring out what actually works for you. Maybe you struggle to meet deadlines, keep track of everything, shift between tasks, or figure out where to even begin when there's too much on your plate. Add perfectionism, burnout, identity, relationships, or family and community expectations into the mix, and it can be hard to know what you actually need or where your own needs end and everyone else's begin. These patterns often have roots in earlier relationships and experiences, including family dynamics that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. In therapy, we'll explore both the past and present to understand these patterns while building new perspectives, coping skills, and ways of responding that honor your needs. Together, we'll identify what you want to change and what might be getting in the way. This might look like setting boundaries with family, working through perfectionism, figuring out why you keep getting stuck, finding ways to manage school or work without constantly feeling behind, building more confidence in yourself, or navigating major life transitions. No matter your goals, I’ll be here to support you with warmth, curiosity, silliness, and honesty along the way.

We specialize in working with survivors of sexual violence, both from childhood and adulthood. Our services are fully virtual, and we offer both individual and group therapy. Sessions with me are relaxed, productive, and quite often include some laughter mixed in! Clients can feel comfortable sharing as much, or as little, of their stories as they wish. Having a history of sexual violence can have a tremendous effect on our lives, consciously and unconsciously, impacting current relationships, our sense-of-self, and the way we connect with others. Our all-women team of therapists help clients build coping skills, reduce PTSD symptoms, and feel happier and safer as they move through the world. We operate from a feminist perspective and utilize trauma-informed approaches to foster resiliency and empower women to achieve all that they are capable of.

Life can feel overwhelming these days, and meaningful relationships, joys and values can be hard to sustain. The coping patterns we adopt often get in the way of feeling better, and connected with others. My practice fosters an empathetic environment where clients are at ease exploring emotions and concerns. Collaboratively, we address issues such as anxiety, depression and self-esteem struggles, and tackle problems such as relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss and school-related stressors. Jointly, we will define concrete goals, develop real-life coping skills and become more aware of underlying barriers to well-being. I am an LCSW (NYU) with a psychodynamic approach. I also draw on techniques from mindfulness-based therapies and trauma-informed methodologies. A former art history professor and undergraduate advisor (B.A. & M.A., Williams; Ph.D. U.Chicago), I understand the particular challenges college students face. Often, the hardest step about therapy is the decision to begin. I welcome the opportunity to meet you and explore how I can be helpful to you.

I believe therapy is a place where I can help facilitate your growth, where together we can help build a tool box that you can take with you into your life. I have a psychodynamic approach to treatment, mixing various interventions and modalities. I use an eclectic and integrative set of techniques in order to address the multiple ways in which we live in the world and experience our lives. Principles of equality, social justice, and rehabilitation drove me to the field of Social Work. But it is the incredibly rewarding experiences providing clinical services and advocacy for both adolescents and adults that has helped me to develop an incisive and expanded understanding of these principles. I am licensed (LCSW) by NY State to practice psychotherapy. I am a member of the National Association of Social Work. Whether it is your first time coming to therapy or you are interested in expanding your set of tools, therapy will offer a safe space to explore issues together. Please contact me for fee information. This site does not allow me to list pricing based on the type of appointment (Individual/Couples/Families).

My name is Dr. Suzanna Mila Chen. I am a Board-Certified M.D. psychiatrist and I run a private boutique practice in NY. My specialties are psychodynamic and CBT psychotherapy. Through a holistic approach I also incorporate lifestyle changes and can add evidence-based supplements when needed. I have experience providing counseling to undergraduate and graduate students at Fordham University Lincoln Center, and providing therapy and at times medications for Albert Einstein College of Medicine students. I have a special interest in building confidence, reducing anxiety, improving work-life balance, addressing pathological perfectionism, addressing people-pleasing, supporting high-achieving students and professionals in their goals, healing emotional wounds from narcissistic parents and dysfunctional family dynamics in general, maneuvering relationships (including interracial and intercultural relationships), and navigating culture and identity. I also have further training in perinatal mental health from PSI. Please note that I do not take in-network for medication management only (ie without therapy).

I’m entirely out-of-network/private pay and offer superbills to clients who need them to submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement.

The students I work best with are often juggling a lot—classes, exams, relationships, family expectations, jobs, and the constant pressure to “have it all figured out.” If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, unmotivated, or just not like yourself lately, you’re not alone. College can be exciting, but it can also be lonely and stressful in ways people don’t always talk about. In our sessions, you’ll have a space where you can be real—no judgment, no pressure, just honest conversations about what’s going on and practical tools to help you cope. Whether you’re struggling with stress, burnout, confidence, friendships, or big life decisions, my goal is to help you feel more grounded, clear, and in control. If you’re ready for support that actually fits your life as a student, I’d love to help you take that next step.

I have a particular interest and experience in working with OCD and generalized anxiety-related concerns. I'm interested in how factors that include intrusive thoughts, avoidance patterns, excessive responsibility, and chronic worry can gradually restrict a person's functioning and quality of life. I've also worked with a lot of immigrant populations, particularly Chinese and Chinese-American clients who are going through anxiety, depression, and other interpersonal or adjustment concerns. In treatment, I focus on helping patients better understand the emotional and cognitive processes underlying their anxiety while gradually building tolerance toward uncertainty, discomfort, and feared experiences through insight-oriented and behavioral approaches, including exposure therapy. My passion for my work is simple: I want to be of help. I believe many people struggle not only because of symptoms themselves, but because they feel misunderstood, isolated, or ashamed of their experiences. I want to help patients make sense of their emotional patterns in a way that feels compassionate, not pathologizing.

Our worlds on the inside and outside can be overwhelming, leaving us with intense emotion that is difficult to manage, understand and process. Perhaps you are left feeling worried, paralyzed, over-thinking decisions, or losing motivation? I work with patients to treat depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting challenges, as well as questions surrounding identity (racial, sexual, gender), and transitions through life-stages. I help patients face and process highly painful experiences, in an environment of safety that I strive to create and maintain throughout the therapeutic process. The care I provide seeks to acknowledge and build upon the strengths and resiliency of each individual, using a culturally-competent lens in exploring these strengths. My clinical experience and knowledge enhance my pragmatic therapeutic work -- offering an individualized approach to each patient. I would like to help you develop hope and positive curiosity about your inner life and the opportunities for growth and healing that lie before you. I look forward to the opportunity to guide you along this path!

You don't have to figure it all out on your own! Students I work with are empathic and intelligent and are feeling pain about their personal lives and the world at large. They have difficulty asking for help as they are often the person others turn to for assistance. Distress can show up as failing classes, procrastination, insomnia, sadness, lack of focus, irritability, anxiety and feelings of hopelessness about the future. In our work together, we will identify sources of distress, resolve conflicts that are holding you stuck, and learn, practice and integrate coping strategies. We will tap into inner resources--including intuition, humor, beauty and resilience--to access healing and joy. Our work will enable you to become more grounded, self-aware, confident, and self-directed. I studied English and Environmental Studies at SUNY Albany and Williams College. I received my Masters in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University and my Masters in Social Work from New York University. My professional experience includes over 15 years working in academia, including serving as the director of a university women's and gender resource center, adjunct professor and academic advisor, in addition to my work as a psychotherapist. I am a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America and am a climate-aware and trauma-informed therapist. Many of my current clients are dealing with trauma and social anxiety. They often feel isolated and struggle with initiating and building healthy connections and friendships with others. Therapy can help you uncover choices and social skills you may not even be able to imagine now. My studies in creative arts therapies, mythology, Tarot, dreams and archetypes help you see your life stories with fresh perspective and flexibility. Students who work best with me approach therapy as partnering with a warm, compassionate, knowledgeable guide who can help them access intuitive, academic, physical and practical resources. We weave together a unique net of strategies that you can tap into as needed for coping with obstacles and stressors in your life.

I’m a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW) and former corporate attorney, now based in New York City. I work with students, young professionals, and emerging leaders who often feel capable and accomplished on the outside but unsettled or stuck internally. I provide depth-oriented, relational therapy, helping clients explore patterns in relationships, identity, and emotional life. My work is informed by attachment, parts-based approaches (IFS), and somatic awareness, with extensive experience supporting trauma survivors. In our work together, I aim to create a reflective, safe space where you can explore what’s really behind the surface of your experiences, without manuals, homework, or pressure. I pay close attention to the relational dynamics between us, while giving you room to wander and discover. I work with adults, couples, and emerging adults, and I also facilitate two small support groups: one for male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and one for new therapists navigating their early clinical work.
