The Counseling Group was formed over 40 years ago to provide human services in order to enhance the life of individuals and families. While we can’t change difficult situations, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. Through the use of multiple therapy and counseling approaches and techniques, we will address behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Our counselors provide services to individuals of all ages – from early childhood through adolescence and into adulthood. A plan of treatment is designed for each individual’s needs to assist in managing the difficulties of life. The Counseling Group is in-network with most major health insurance carriers. Your services may be covered in full or in part by your insurance or employee benefits plan. Our business office will file insurance claims for you and assist you with any financial questions.
I offer traditional psychotherapy sessions, but I also work on stress management, mindfulness, emotional expression, relationship issues, depression, recovery and other issues.
Extensive Experience I have dedicated my career to working with a diverse clientele, encompassing children, adolescents, and adults. My experience spans individual and group settings, allowing me to tailor my approach to the unique needs of each client. While my primary focus has been on outpatient services, including leading psychoeducational groups, I have also gained experience in other therapeutic contexts. Areas of Specialization My therapeutic expertise encompasses a wide range of presenting concerns, including: Personal Difficulties: Addressing challenges related to self-esteem, identity, life transitions, and personal growth. Behavioral Difficulties: Assisting clients in managing and modifying problematic behaviors that impact their daily lives and relationships. Emotional Difficulties: Providing support and guidance in navigating a range of emotions, including anxiety, depression, anger, and grief. Relationship Difficulties: Helping individuals and couples improve communication, resolve conflict, and build healthier relationships. Trauma and Family Difficulties: Supporting clients in healing from trauma, addressing family dynamics, and fostering healthy family relationships. Substance Use Disorder and Treatment: Providing evidence-based interventions for substance use disorders, including individual and group therapy, relapse prevention, and support for family members. Core Counselor Role My fundamental role as a counselor is to create a therapeutic environment that is characterized by safety, trust, and mutual respect. Within this space, clients and I collaborate to explore their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. By working together, we can identify new perspectives, develop coping strategies, and empower clients to make informed choices that align with their personal goals. Integrative Theoretical Approach My therapeutic approach is grounded in an integrative framework that draws upon multiple evidence-based modalities, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This approach focuses on identifying and modifying unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive coping patterns. Person-Centered Therapy: This approach emphasizes the importance of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness in fostering client self-awareness and growth. Motivational Interviewing: This approach utilizes a collaborative and client-centered style to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): This approach is specifically designed to address trauma and PTSD by facilitating the reprocessing of traumatic memories. Gottman Method Couples Therapy: This approach is based on extensive research on successful relationships and focuses on enhancing communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy within couples. Emphasis on Cognitive and Person-Centered Principles While I integrate various therapeutic modalities, my approach is particularly influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe that our thoughts and perceptions significantly impact our emotions and behaviors. By helping clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts, we can promote emotional well-being and adaptive coping. Additionally, I am committed to providing a therapeutic space where clients feel unconditionally accepted and valued, fostering self-exploration and personal growth. Collaborative and Empowering Therapeutic Relationship I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership in which clients are empowered to take an active role in their healing and growth. I am committed to providing compassionate and individualized support to help clients achieve their desired outcomes and live more fulfilling lives.

Throughout our lives we are in a constant state of growth. Experiencing life transitions, exploring who we are as people, navigating relationships. These inevitable experiences can be exacerbated by mental and emotional challenges, substance use, trauma, and additional life stressors of school and family life. I help people navigate how to manage it all. Utilizing mind and body based approaches, I will help you learn what it is you need to find healing, balance, and ease through it all.
We must partner together to help you gain insight into your own experience and life. You’ll often hear me guiding clients to their own answers through questions like: What do you actually need in this moment? Is there another way to express yourself that feels authentic to you? What are you missing out in life because of this avoidance strategy? Is there anything familiar to you about that reaction/response? Go Inward, Gain Strength One of my strengths is meeting the person where they are in their lives. This has come naturally to me and has been reinforced throughout my career as a helping professional. It is incredibly powerful to work with my clients to create change and witness them build confidence in themselves. If someone is super motivated and ready to work through their stuff, I can do that. If someone isn’t there yet and they need to problem solve marriage issues and don’t want to dig into the past, I can support that too. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. You determine the pace, the goal, the direction. My passion is utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) as an intervention to help you go inward and find your solutions. You are the best expert in your life and I urge you to understand and trust your gut reaction. EMDR is an intervention that is particularly effective for helping individuals who have experienced distressing events; and there is strong data supporting the use of EMDR to alleviate symptoms of OCD, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, and shifting negative core beliefs. My experience also includes working with individuals who have experienced trauma. This includes individuals who use or have used substances to cope. I have worked as an in-home therapist to children and families. This experience provided an up close look at the family system and the impact of trauma on that system. With Awareness, Comes Growth You can generate happiness and contentment from within yourself. It is possible to be calm and set boundaries with others. You can learn to identify the things that have shaped you and understand how this impacts your automatic responses. Allow me to partner with you to gain awareness into yourself, validate your instincts and grow your confidence.

Hi! I have a 5 lb. Maltese and Hunter, my 115 lb. German Shepherd. I grew up on a farm and animals are incredibly important to me. They teach us so much about ourselves and have the capacity to unconditionally love us and at times, they can really challenge us. That's what therapy is all about - unconditional positive regard and pushing us to be our best selves. I work with females; ages pre-teens to adulthood and their families. Anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm behaviors, relational issues, and emotional challenges are among my specialties. I love helping those find their purpose, path, and inspiration!

I work with individuals dealing with life transitions, medical related issues, mood and affective disorders, and marriage, parenting or family issues. I also have my Yoga Teacher Training Certification as well as completing my certifications in Maternal Mental Health and ADHD. My approach to counseling places an emphasis on the relationship between the client and counselor and the promotion of growth. When needed, I use a variety of structured and non-structured interventions to best meet the needs of the client. I utilize empirically supported techniques, including cognitive and behavioral interventions, that focus on the ways in which individuals think about and respond to events. These interventions allow clients to restructure their thinking, process events and modify behaviors in more adaptive ways. I use a narrative and solution focused approach to collaboratively work with clients to identify successful past solutions to problems and how these strengths can be implemented in future situations. Small changes in the way clients view themselves and their own abilities to solve problems will encourage solution-oriented patterns to reach future goals.

As social beings, people need the contact and acceptance of other people. It is not uncommon for people to experience things that disrupt or unravel their lives, and they feel they have no one to turn to who understands or accepts them. Whether this experience is anxiety, depression, stress, life changes, or trauma, my passion is to help individuals find healthy ways of coping and processing the events in their lives. As well as helping people connect with others in more meaningful ways. As everyone is different, I feel there is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. Because of this, I have sought training in multiple therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My educational background includes an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. My Clinical internship was spent in a substance abuse/mental health facility in South Florida, where I worked with military and veteran clients. Before my degree, I enlisted in the United States Airforce and was trained as a Medical Technician/EMT.
