My passion is helping youth and adults find a way to live their best life! Sometimes that looks like coaching for success and other times it involves addressing concerns that interfere with living well such as anxiety, autism, neurodiversity, social interactions, stress, and sports performance anxiety. I am paneled with many insurances other than those listed below. I am licensed in North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, and Nebraska. I am a trained provider of cognitive rehabilitation for (TBI) brain injury. Check on my website link to see if I have your insurance paneled with me. I look forward to meeting you!
*TELEHEALTH ONLY* My practice is a safe place for all women and their unique beliefs. Are you exhausted? I'm here to help women who are struggling with life's inevitable ups and downs. Are you navigating modern motherhood, and work-life "balance" (is there EVER really complete balance)? Does making friends feel like a chore? Maybe it's ADHD, anxiety, or postpartum? Is perimenopause knocking at the door? Let's figure it out together. I am kind, but direct in my approach. Please understand that I no longer conduct phone consultations. I believe that the best way to truly decide if we are a good fit working together, is to meet and go from there. My approach to working with clients is that the client is always the expert on their own lives. I see clients from a strengths-based perspective, and help my clients recognize and use those strengths fully. I take an integrative approach to meet your needs. I am a psychodynamic therapist, but I make use of polyvagal theory and mindfulness as well. I know it can be overwhelming to reach out for help when you need it the most. It takes bravery to take this next step. Be proud of yourself for being here right now. I typically respond within two business days. Check your spam folder to be sure you didn't miss it. Please note that I ONLY work with WOMEN in my practice and ONLY via telehealth at this time.

You may be the one who keeps it together for everyone else, always striving, always overanalyzing. But inside, you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or not quite “enough.” Whether you’re navigating anxiety, struggling in your relationships, or feeling stuck in cycles of self-doubt, therapy can offer a space to breathe, reflect, and rebuild. I help teens and adults understand their inner world and reconnect with themselves. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in real conversation. I’ll meet you where you are, and together we’ll explore what’s keeping you stuck and how to move forward. I integrate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, and experiential therapy. Therapy with me isn’t about perfection, it’s about creating a space where you can be honest and supported without judgment. You’ll gain insight, learn how to manage your emotions with more confidence, and develop more secure relationships. If you're feeling unsure where to start, that’s okay. You don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out.

I utilize evidence-based practices (EBP) to ensure the most effective and beneficial outcomes for clients. EBP involves integrating best research evidence with clinical expertise and client values to make informed decisions about treatment plans. For example, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety is an evidence-based approach, as research supports its effectiveness in alleviating anxiety symptom. I have an extensive history treating individuals with anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc working in the private sector, VA, state facilities and other government agencies .

I take a person-centered approach to therapy, where we work at your pace and with your goals and voice at the forefront, taking practical steps toward the life you deserve. If you are the person, everyone turns to, who do YOU turn to? You give everything to everyone else but never have time for you. It gets tiring always being the ''strong'' one. I see you. You might be struggling to get through the day or question yourself and your worth. This can look like anxiety, depression, problems recovering from a traumatic experience as an adult or as a child. I want to help you know what you DESERVE. Find the life you want and be more in control of your thoughts, emotions, and choices. Let's look inward and do this difficult but deeply important and rewarding work together. Currently, I can see clients who reside in Pennsylvania, California and North Carolina.
We all experience grief in our day-to-day lives. We could be feeling grief regarding a chance not taken, a divorce, the loss of a relationship, the loss of a pet, the loss of a loved one, the loss/damage of belongings, the loss of trust in the world, experiencing holidays without someone special, or having to move. We will begin by giving space for the losses and adjustments you have experienced throughout your life, ensuring each version of you can release these emotions and process them in a safe space. I will add helpful interventions, techniques, and educational tools to provide additional support and deeper understanding. I will be your cheerleader. When you feel isolated, confused, or overwhelmed, I will shine light and provide space and consistency. I believe in gentle pushes when needed. I will give space to process emotions, learn new therapeutic interventions, and work with you to create direct action or action goals that honor you for lasting, meaningful change. We will utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, solution focused therapy, maintain/create effective coping skills, practice stress reduction habits, utilize grief therapy techniques, and honor rituals/memorials as needed/wanted. I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and family/relationship issues. I will cultivate space for you to process these, honor these, and take action steps. We will get you to a place where you can experience the present more fully while honoring your past.

**Some Insurance Accepted in NC through Headway** I practice via telehealth in NY, NC, WA, and TX. I specialize in working with adult men and women who are secretly miserable. You may look fine on the outside, but inside you're struggling to get your own needs met, codependency, perfectionism, and shame. Gestalt Therapy goes beyond looking at just the cognitive, linear perspectives of the person. It demands of the therapist an awareness of the body and how it manifests in the psyche. Through its focus on process rather than content, the patient gains an experiential awareness of how they do what they do and new choices emerge spontaneously. The radical focus on process in the creative therapy of Gestalt keeps the work alive and full of possibility for both the patient and my work as a therapist. Melissa Bennett-Heinz obtained her master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University (Class of 2002) and is a graduate of Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in New York City, NY. In addition to her background in Gestalt Therapy, she obtained her bachelor's and master’s degrees from the esteemed conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, in New York City where she majored in Oboe Performance. Melissa completed cognitive behavioral studies under the tutelage of Dr. William Sanderson. She is a licensed clinical social worker in NY, WA, NC, and TX and has over twenty years of specialized training and experience in PTSD, childhood abuse, mood and anxiety disorders. Melissa brings her background as a classical musician and deep spirituality together in her unique approach in Gestalt's creative and experiential therapy.
Do you find yourself having strong emotional responses to past events? Are you struggling to “Let go” or “Move on” from painful experiences? A typical Enduring Strength Counseling client is someone between the ages of 20-35, possibly a member of the military community, who answered yes to the questions above and is ready to begin their mental health journey but do not want to deal with the constraints and limitations of insurance companies. My clients pay for services directly and feel greater comfort and peace of mind to engage in counseling knowing that their care will not be denied.
Hello and welcome! Typically, I see client's ranging from ages 5-30. I enjoy helping clients work on anxiety, depression, self-esteem, family dynamics, life transitions, suicidal ideation and self-harm. I am passionate about social justice and love to incorporate nature and art into practice. Through a person-centered approach, I reinforce the belief that individuals are experts of their own life by utilizing their natural supports and strengths.
