Thank you for being here - I know how vulnerable it can be searching for a counselor during life's most difficult moments. I respect your courage in seeking support and reaching out. I work with adolescents and adults struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and emotional management, especially anger. As a clinically trained body-mind therapist, my focus is on mindfulness and present-moment awareness. I believe in growth within safe, non-judgmental relationships where you feel empowered to experience new perspectives, opportunity, and healing. In session I am present-focused, transparent, and relational. My approach is rooted in trust and collaboration. I value authenticity, and bring myself into our sessions. I offer tools and techniques designed to connect your thoughts to your emotions, then creating action. I have developed a robust set of resources that are available to all of my clients. I am an advocate for healthy manhood and a proponent of simple living. I carry a strong connection to the outdoors. My therapeutic support dog, Joe, may be a part of our sessions. You deserve healing and connection. Please reach out when you are ready.

Sarah Dietz
Psychologist
Wilmington, NC

Dr. Dietz's work as a psychologist is rooted in the belief that there is healing power in connection and in sharing one’s story. She works to provide an affirming space that allows clients to explore their experiences and challenges in a more nuanced and compassionate manner. Human beings have an innate need to feel seen and understood. In an increasingly isolating world, therapy offers clients the opportunity to feel less alone in their struggles, while also offering practical coping skills and strategies for growth. Sarah adopts a collaborative approach with clients, to ensure therapy is addressing goals that are valuable and relevant to each individual. Sarah is intentional about approaching clinical work with a multicultural lens as a means of acknowledging and honoring all aspects of clients’ identities and lived experiences. Sarah utilizes a trauma-informed and grief-informed framework to avoid pathologizing normative reactions to trauma and loss. Sessions will often include psychoeducation to help clients better understand and contextualize their challenges, experiences, and reactions.

Have you recently experienced trauma or struggling with past trauma? I provide trauma-informed therapy in a way that is warm and engaging. Are you stumbling through the relentless bs of the last few years? Perhaps current events reopened old wounds or crushed you with crippling anxiety. I work with clients who are distressed, in pain, and ready for relief - who go between feeling incredibly tense or just numb. I treat different types of trauma with a focus on complex childhood trauma. Together, we'll identify the source of your pain and find ways to help you heal so that you can feel and function better. Often that looks like improved relationships, a calm mind, relaxed body, and a clearer vision about what you want to accomplish moving forward.

Welcome to your safe space. In my practice I strive to support individuals and/or couples while they are navigating gender identity issues, family conflict, relationship issues, and life transitions. I have a passion for working with the queer community as I realize the pressure, fear, and injustice that the community faces on a daily basis. During your time with me you can expect a welcoming environment that promotes wellness, and inclusivity. I hope to create an environment that allows you to show up as your full self, as messy as that may be. You can expect to laugh with me, be challenged by me, and most importantly be seen and supported by me. If you are needing someone that can support you in working through some of the issues listed above please feel free to reach out to me and schedule a free consultation! There may come a time in life when you lose a person or pet and you recognize that the term, "My heart is broken" means so much more than emotional pain...it's a physical pain as well. You are lost, scared, lonely, and your world has been turned upside down. I can help. Maybe you have lost yourself in alcohol or drug abuse or wonder if you are drinking or using too much. You aren't a bad person but you are embarrassed or ashamed to discuss your alcohol or drug use. Let me help guide you back to the path that was meant for you. You have served your city, county, state, or country as a First Responder or Military member, but sometimes you struggle to feel your very best. Many people can't relate to what you've experienced or even done. At times, you may become stuck in your thoughts, memories, and experiences. Having been in Law Enforcement, I understand the typcial dark sense of humor often used that most people don't understand. I also recognize the need to focus on the task and I will work along side of you to resolve concerns as efficiently as possible. I also work well with those who experience anxiety/panic attacks, symptoms associated with ADHD, describe themselves as "perfectionists", and parents who seek parenting assistance. I am a survivor of suicide loss and frequently support others who have also experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. I also work closely with the LGBTQIA+ community. I view each person and situation as unique. I am here to create a safe place for you to explore and process your feelings and experiences for which you are seeking services. I am not your “stereotypical” therapist. We can pray together, cuss like sailors, cry together, or share a good laugh. I believe that the use of appropriate self-disclosure can also strengthen the bond between the therapist and client. I am caring and compassionate, but I am also direct and will push you to confront what is holding you back from living your best life. It takes courage to ask for help, and I am beyond grateful to be the one to walk beside you in your journey of healing. I graduated from East Carolina, in 2000, with dual Masters Degrees: 1) Rehabilitation Counseling (vocational, emotional, physical, and behavioral concerns), and 2) Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling. I started my career as an Addictions and Dual Diagnosis Therapist. After approximately 5 years as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), I started working with and advocating for families involved in the Juvenile Justice system. Nearly 16 years later, I decided to return to the counseling profession. Since returning, I have worked in a group setting as well as having opened my own private practice. I am currently seeing clients in person and via telehealth. I have available appointments throughout the week. No weekend appointments are available at this time.

Do you find yourself having strong emotional responses to past events? Are you struggling to “Let go” or “Move on” from painful experiences? A typical Enduring Strength Counseling client is someone between the ages of 20-35, possibly a member of the military community, who answered yes to the questions above and is ready to begin their mental health journey but do not want to deal with the constraints and limitations of insurance companies. My clients pay for services directly and feel greater comfort and peace of mind to engage in counseling knowing that their care will not be denied.
