Hi there! My name is Kyle and I am happy you have chosen that next step to a better you. In my practice, I support your goals in building a better life you want to make a reality by using a person centered, strength based approach. I've been a therapist for over five years now and have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. I take great pride in being able to offer an adaptive approach, as what one client may need might differ from the next. Nevertheless, I focus on our therapeutic relationship to ensure you feel valued, validated, and supported. In our first session, I want to get to know you, and that means learning about who you are as a person, your goals in life and in treatment, as well as your history and what brought you to this step in your life journey.
Students I work best with are often feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, anxious, or stuck in patterns that are hard to manage alone. Many are navigating stress related to school, relationships, family dynamics, identity, life transitions, self-esteem, trauma, ADHD, or difficulties with emotional regulation and coping skills. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where students can feel heard, understood, and empowered while building healthier coping strategies, improving emotional awareness, and working toward personal growth at their own pace.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” -Lao Tzu My name is Taibriana Wilkins. I am an African-American BIPOC woman, using she/her/ella pronouns. My love of cultures, exploration and language encouraged me to travel and live abroad. Before studying to be a clinical social worker and therapist, I spent a few years in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Hyogo prefecture, Japan working as an English Foreign Language teacher. I was able to improve my language skills, eat delicious food, and explore. One of the major themes I gained from living abroad and living in Michigan is the ability to manage and adjust to transitions. Life is full of transitions, whether it be adjusting to an unfamiliar environment, readjusting to a familiar environment, a new position, changes in family dynamics and social life, it is important to practice skills related to connecting with yourself and others. I provide a non-judgmental space for YOU to play and explore life while in therapy. To reflect on the past and consider the future, it is valuable to be grounded in the present. When we play, we are in the present moment. I am warm, encouraging, direct and enjoy sharing a laugh. Attending and engaging in therapy can provoke a host of emotional responses. Developing a positive relationship between YOU the client and myself the therapist is important for exploration and when practicing vulnerability. In session, YOU may seek insight into everyday situations, examine patterns of behavior, and practice coping skills to navigate difficult moments. I specialize in serving teens/adolescents, college students, young adults, and clients of marginalized identities including Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), International students, immigrants, and LGBTQIAS2+ populations. I have practiced at a Lansing area community center and at Michigan State University. Topics of focus in session surround navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, time management skills, family dynamics, and identity formation.
I believe that we all find ourselves in stuck places throughout our lives with confusion and overwhelm about where to go and what to do next. It is even more challenging when we are isolated in these places, not knowing who to trust or who will show up for us. This is where counseling comes in as a compassionate space that encourages the person to keep going and to know themselves more deeply in the process. I seek to provide a warm, empathetic, and sometimes directive and educational (education is empowering!) space that integrates evidenced-based modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment, and Somatic/Body-focused therapies. I guide clients in noticing their natural strengths and in believing they have within themselves the ability to persist and grow. It is my belief that Jesus is the ultimate hope, healer, and companion through stuck places in life, but I meet clients where they are at in each session, whether they have no interest in faith or a lot. I value and honor the various cultural and spiritual identities with which a client may enter the room. When I’m not counseling, I like to be outside (think hiking, gardening, beach time), travel to new places with my husband and children, and participate in community at my church. It would be an honor to walk beside you as you keep going forward in life!
