Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Best fit for individuals experiencing stress, PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, as well as support with parenting challenges and life transitions. Main treatment models I provide are CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) as well as CPT (Cognitive processing therapy) which is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD. Together, we can explore solutions and positive growth. A brief therapy model is NOT compatible treatment for crisis, psychiatric emergencies, legal issues, active addictions, severe and persistent mental illness including suicidal or self-injurious behavior, nor those with histories of recent hospitalizations.

Reaching out for help can be overwhelming and scary. How do you know which counselor to talk to? How do you know if it’s a good fit? What do all the letters mean after everyone’s names? What are my friends and family going to think if they hear I’m in counseling? There is so much confusion and stigma around mental health, and I would love to help you make sense of the process. I have extensive experience working with individuals in crisis, helping them find reasons to stay alive and ways to cope with what can feel like all-consuming depression and sorrow. I also have experience working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with overuse of alcohol and drugs and can help plot a course toward harm-reduction and a more rewarding life. I love working with teenagers and college age students. It’s during this time that people often are struggling to find their identity, who they love, and what they want out of their lives. It’s also during this time that difficult symptoms tend to start making an appearance. Learning how to cope now can lessen the effects later in life and lead to much healthier and holistic outcomes. I offer free 15 minute phone consultations to see if I am the best fit for your needs. Let’s get connected today and start working towards a future you are excited about.

Are you feeling stuck, and unsure how to move forward? Whether it be one big event or many smaller things piling up over time, it can be hard trying to figure out where to start. Everyone could use some extra support from time to time, and it takes a lot of courage to take the first step and talking about the struggles in your life. My specialty is working with individuals in creating a supportive environment to process troubling areas and provide opportunities to improve communication skills and achieve your goals. I look forward to working alongside you as you work to achieve your goals! I provide individual counseling for adults to improve functioning and self-satisfaction. I believe counseling is a collaborative process where we work together to develop insight and tap into your strengths so you can overcome challenges and reach your goals. Whether it be school, work, or relationships, my goal is to provide support through a warm and non-judgmental space to help during these challenges. I work with individuals from all walks of life.
I believe every person’s story matters. Regardless of what you’ve been told in the past or how others have responded to you, your experiences are important. My goal is to create a space where you feel valued, heard, and respected. Counseling is not about fixing you—it’s about understanding you, honoring your story, and helping you reconnect with calm, clarity, and a sense of direction. Healing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest. As a Certified Advanced Addiction & Drug Counselor, I understand that substance use is often a way of coping with pain, stress, or emotions that feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling with substance use, you may carry guilt, shame, or fear about asking for help. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what’s behind the behaviors and work toward healthier ways of coping. Recovery is not about perfection—it’s about understanding, support, and building sustainable change one step at a time. My approach to counseling is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices. I take time to understand your goals, listen closely to your experiences, and gently guide the process through education, reflection, and meaningful conversation. We may explore family patterns, past experiences, and current stressors to better understand what’s contributing to your challenges. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but small, steady steps can lead to lasting change. If you’re ready to explore whether counseling could be helpful for you, I’m here to support you. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing ADHD, navigating substance use concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. Hello! My name is Erin. I specialize in working with clients with a variety of concerns including PTSD, sexual traumas, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, LGBTQIA concerns, women's issues, divorce, relationship concerns, neurodivergent and more. Therapy works best when my client is motivated for some kind of change, even if they may not know what that looks like. My role is to support them in their journey to find their path. Please note that in accordance to Michigan Law, I participate in monthly supervision meetings with a Ph.D Psychologist, Dr. Julie Davis. I use a combination of CBT, positive psychology, motivational interviewing and more to meet a client where they are. My approach is direct for those who prefer, and softer for those who need a lighter approach. I use humor with my clients and find the absurdities and ironies in life. I am also able to go to the dark places with my clients. I know what it’s like to feel lost and uncertain. I know what it’s like to experience hopelessness and feel a desire to live a more meaningful life. These are just a few of the reasons I became a therapist. Participating in my own therapy from a young age helped me understand I wanted to others navigate these difficult feelings for a more fulfilling life.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Approved Clinical Supervisor. I have extensive experience providing services for individuals dealing with elevated stress and anxiety.
