I offer cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), including DBT for emotional regulation, and EMDR for trauma and PTSD. I enjoy working with college students, and have experience treating a wide variety of issues. These include, but are not limited to: Anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment problems, self-esteem difficulties, and family conflict. I also have a special interest and training background in PTSD and trauma-related difficulties. I am EMDR-trained. My style is warm and collaborative, and I use an individualized approach with each client. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to gain support, insight, and tools to guide you on your mental health journey. I am an ideal choice for students who go to school in Massachusetts but permanently reside in New Hampshire (or vice versa). I am licensed in both states, which means that I can meet with you when you are at school and when you are home on breaks. I am an ally and safe space to members of the LGTBQIA community, racial/ethnic minorities, and those impacted by poverty. I am aware of how systemic oppression, systems of privilege, and all forms of prejudice impact human functioning. However, I do not pretend to be an expert in these areas, and I am not personally a member of the above-mentioned communities. I welcome any questions about me or my practice. Please feel free to reach out at carahgarsopsyd@gmail.com or 603-577-5551 x3.
Person Centered Therapy provides individual, family, and couples therapy to treat a multitude of mental health conditions. I particularly enjoy working with college students and young adults to guide them through career and life transitions as well as helping them to overcome limiting beliefs so they can thrive. I have over 27 years of experience in helping clients overcome anxiety, depression, anger, trauma/PTSD, grief/loss, stress, self-esteem, gender identity, phobias, and other issues which once prevented them from accomplishing their goals and making the important changes they wanted in life. Clients can expect “person centered” therapy which means the focus is on each person’s own unique insights and experiences. This empowers our clients to take a lead role in their therapy which offers them autonomy, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and help to reach their full potential to live a fulfilling life. We offer a safe and supportive environment so clients not only receive encouragement, but also feel comfortable being fully involved in sharing their thoughts and experiences. Such a supportive approach encourages clients to explore their own insights, find solutions, and take a very active role in their therapy. This method also promotes self-awareness, personal growth, autonomy and empowerment plus helps to develop healthy and effective coping strategies to improve emotional well-being and functioning across all areas.
I create a safe space for you to explore who you are, your experiences in life, and what you would like to become or experience, by providing a non-judgmental, respectful, calm, stable, and positive atmosphere as your counselor. I will encourage and guide you to be your authentic self. The populations I specialize in counseling include people who identify within the broad spectrums of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (and their loved ones), persons living with HIV, social justice & civil rights workers, and polyamorous folks & others in non-traditional, open, and/or kink relationships. I have experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and those who are going through life changes. I also enjoy teaching life and coping skills, assertive communication, boundary setting, mindfulness, and doing relationship counseling, career counseling, and life coaching. Sessions are video telehealth only, and are $100 for 45-minute sessions.
I provide individual therapy to individuals who are looking for help to cope with life's various twists and turns. I utilize an organic approach to gain an understanding of your specific life situations and stressors that are contributing to your current feelings. I use positive affirmations, strength identification and skill building to encourage you to reach your personal goals. We will work quickly to alleviate uncomfortable symptoms while we learn to identify triggers that may cause these feelings in order to focus on making long term changes that will help you to move forward through life. I would love the opportunity to work with you to find a way to bring out the strength that is inside of you. You are capable of so much more than you can even imagine!

You might feel stuck—questioning your identity, struggling in relationships, or carrying anxiety and self-doubt that won’t quiet down. Maybe you’re moving through a big life change or just tired of feeling like you have to hide parts of yourself to be accepted. My clients often want clarity, relief, and a more honest connection to themselves and others. As a non-binary therapist, I understand how deeply the therapist’s identity can shape the therapy space—and how important it is to feel seen. I also bring a feminist perspective to help make sense of how social and cultural systems impact your lived experience. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in MA, VT, and FL, I support adults facing anxiety, depression, identity conflict, and relationship struggles. My specialty is interpersonal psychotherapy, and I bring a holistic, adaptable approach to each session—offering clarity, insight, and a space where you can better understand yourself and your connections. I offer a safe, affirming space where you can show up fully and honestly. My approach supports you in developing practical, realistic coping tools while deepening your understanding of yourself. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel more aligned with the person you want to be—grounded, capable, and true to yourself.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, elderly, couples and families. I utilize multiple treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I believe that therapy looks different for each person and I strive to provide a supportive and non-judgmental therapeutic setting based on compassion, trust, and honesty where we can work together to utilize your own individual strengths to reach your goals and to be able to better manage the stressors in your life.

Mind Gains, LLC is a private practice providing online psychotherapy and counseling for people throughout the state of Massachusetts. We specialize in providing individual and couples therapy for adults. Our online mental health services are inclusive and meant to address the varying needs of people from all walks of life. We are LGBTQ+ friendly, intersectionally aware, and look forward to learning more about YOU.
At its core, therapy is about the people sitting in a room together (or often sitting on computers together), and that safety within the relationship is one of the most important aspects of finding a good fit. I am honored to create that space with you. As a therapist, I start with one basic assumption: you are the expert of your own experience. My hope is to empower people to better understand those experiences or to bring in additional perspectives that might shed more light on aspects of one’s life. Informed by my background in queer theory, feminist theory, and anti-racist ideologies, I work with my clients to identify the external structures of power impacting their lives, then engage with the areas of their lives within their control where they can make changes and achieve their goals. While many forms of therapy take from one another and blend together, I begin with trauma informed relational-focused work and draw heavily on DBT/CBT/mindfulness-based therapy modalities. I view therapeutic relationships as dynamic, and work to tailor the experience to my clients’ needs and preferences. Whether you are someone who likes sessions to feel more conversational, someone who appreciates tangible takeaways like worksheets, or someone who wants to spend time practicing skills in our sessions, we can work together to find a treatment plan that suits you.

I am currently scheduling patients for both in-person (PA/NJ) and telehealth (PA/NJ/MA) appointments. I welcome patients who are looking for medication management, therapy, a second opinion, or any combination of the above. My interests include diagnostic clarification of mood/anxiety/attention disorders, evaluation of young adults who may be seeking help for the first time, and treatment of substance use disorders that often present with other common diagnoses. I offer comprehensive treatment, taking into consideration not only whether a patient has a medical illness, but also discussing lifestyle, substance use, relationships and other factors that could be affecting an individual's mental health. When indicated, I may recommend the use of psychiatric medications in conjunction with therapy.
