Hi, I'm Mary, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I help people work through mental health challenges using approaches like CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and family systems therapy, and I have worked with a wide range of clients across many ages and backgrounds. Trauma and EMDR are a particular focus of mine. I became a therapist because I have always been drawn to people's stories. While I bring expertise in mental health, you are the expert on your own life, and my job is to use a person centered approach to help you organize your thoughts and move toward your goals. I promise to meet you without judgment and to be a present listener. I do not think therapy should feel cold or clinical, so I will put in the work to build a real connection, because connection is where healing happens. I see clients through WellQor, where I provide therapy entirely online, so we can meet from wherever feels comfortable for you. If you would like to begin working together, visit the WellQor website and fill out the Get Started form. A patient liaison will then text you with the next steps and help get you on my schedule. I look forward to meeting you.

Feeling more overwhelmed than usual? Noticing the weight of past experiences getting in your way? Looking to move toward healing? Wanting to lean into a healthier version of yourself? These types of thoughts are common. We all struggle, at times, with how we react to different situations. Our life experiences and environments have an affect on our thoughts, feelings and emotions. I offer support in your growth towards more ease and grounding no matter the circumstance. I will offer you a secure space that is welcoming and open to all as well as filled with compassion, acceptance, and curiosity. I hold a relational focus because the connection that you and I create is essential for the work it takes to get you closer to what you are looking for in your life. I am authentic and honest in my approach because we are humans coming together in a common experience that requires trust and vulnerability to be able to work on hard things together.
My undergraduate focus was in math and science. However, through the years I decided that relationships were more important and realized that most individuals don't have the tools to form good marriage, family, and friendship connections. Much of this is the result of poor parenting that leaves an individual fearful, without confidence, and having no idea how to navigate life's challenges. Children are precious and deserve to feel loved and secure. This is difficult if their parents weren't nurtured and shown how (primarily by example) to have a loving marriage. We deserve love in marriage, and our children need that example. My graduate studies at the University of Southern California were in sociology (sex and gender focus) and marriage and family therapy. I have years of experience in parenting, responding to domestic violence, treating pornography addiction, and helping clients who are depressed and/or anxious.

Are you struggling to build self-esteem or find self-worth? Has the stress from daily responsibilities compounded existing problems with depression, anxiety, or loss? It is possible to move through emotional pain and self-doubt.
