Hi! My name is Alicia, and I want to meet you. Yes, you! College can be intense. You're away from home with the pressure to succeed and do well, but there's also dealing with roommates, parties, and being around people who resemble aliens. You know, they just don't get you and you've never encountered anyone quite like them before. On top of this, you may be the first in your family to go to college. You can't admit to them that it's hard. They had all their hopes and dreams riding on you. So where to go? Come to therapy! Yes, therapy. It may be your first time talking to someone, but I promise it helps to tell someone what you're thinking and what you're feeling. College doesn't have to be scary, and you don't have to go through it alone. We can figure it out together. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has worked with many college students, especially those who identify as first-gen and/or veterans. Therapy with me is conversational. In sessions, you can speak freely. I'm not into judging. That would probably make me a lousy therapist. I offer thoughtful reflection and point out patterns in your behavior that may not be the most helpful, and then we problem-solve and strategize solutions to help get you feeling better. I can also teach you skills to help when your emotions feel overwhelming.

I provide a safe space in therapy for you to show up fully, just as you are. I support you in creating space to dismantle the various known and unknown obstacles blocking you from embodying your TRUE self. I believe you already have what it takes to heal and thrive, but you just need the right environment and community support to unravel and relearn. I have recently expanded to supporting adults who are seeking healing by means of EMDR & Internal Family Systems (IFS). Since 2012, I have primarily served children and their families in their homes and schools, assisting in child behavior, developmental disabilities, and early childhood trauma. I have experience working with first-time parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, teen parents, and foster/adoptive families. I also uses art therapy, sand tray therapy, wilderness therapy, play therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy in my practice. In my free time, I loves to engage in her local community of the North Fork Valley located in Paonia, CO on the Western Slope. Over the last decade, I have dedicated volunteer hours at the Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Center educating youth in prevention, as a National Forest winter & summer ranger, and as a Search & Rescue member. Since 2017, I have been actively educating myself and others in racial justice education and is committed to further developing my own understanding of internal-racial bias and translating this into advocacy work. I am currently on the board of Delta County Cares, an advocacy group for social and racial justice efforts. Offering therapy online and in-person (Paonia location only).

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I help college students navigate anxiety, relationship struggles, family stress, and the pressure to have it all together. Many of my clients are doing their best on the outside—but inside, they’re overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who they really are. In our work together, you’ll learn how to tune into your emotions, communicate more clearly, and build stronger relationships—with others and with yourself. Whether you’re dealing with a recent breakup, trouble with your parents, friendship shifts, or just trying to feel more like you, therapy can give you space to make sense of it all. My style is warm, collaborative, and real. also bring a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, so you can feel safe exploring the deeper roots of what’s coming up for you. You won’t be judged—and you won’t be alone.
My clients are smart, self-aware people who've been managing a lot on their own for a long time — and they're tired. They want to stop overthinking everything, feel more solid in their relationships, and figure out who they actually are underneath the performance. A lot of them are queer, neurodivergent, or both, and they're done explaining the basics to their therapist. They want someone direct, who notices patterns, and who won't let them stay comfortable when they're ready for something different. I'm a clinical psychologist. I work with attachment, identity, and the ways people get stuck trying to hold it all together. My style is warm but direct — I'll give you real feedback, not just nod and reflect. We use what works, and go at the pace your nervous system can handle. If you want an authentic therapist who's honest with you, helps you build skills that work outside the room, and actually tracks whether things are getting better — reach out. We'll figure out what matters and go from there.
The problems and symptoms bringing you to seek therapy might be connected to things you wish never happened. This can be overwhelming to feel and vulnerable to invite another person to be with you. Deep down you may be hoping for change and eager for healing, but unsure of how to get it. I believe psychotherapy is a sacred process that can look underneath the surface and explore deeply-rooted issues to help create long lasting and significant change. My hope is to partner with you to help you understand yourself, deepen your relationships with others, and foster your healing journey. I take a psychodynamic approach to therapy, focusing on how emotional and relational experiences contribute to past and present suffering. My goal is to collaborate with you to help understand why you are hurting and help equip you to develop new ways of relating to yourself and others in order to find the relief and healing you want. Finding a therapist that is a right fit for you and your needs is important, most likely prompting your current search. I hope to gain your trust and partner with you to co-create a journey toward healing. Maybe the issues causing you to reach out for help are the start of that journey and the spark of hope for change.
Have you ever wondered what therapy could be like using art materials and activities? I support college students and young adults use the power of creativity to process emotions, gain insight, work through challenges, and overcome hardships through transformative art. My style is relational, collaborative, and mindful. My clients describe me as: Grounded, relatable, supportive, humorous, comforting, non-judgmental, and patient. You'll also practice coping skills, mindfulness, body awareness, relational skills, boundary setting, identifying/processing/regulating emotions, & dive into how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. I personally know what it’s like to deeply struggle through teen and young adult years. And I know what it’s like to receive help, work through it, and come out on the other side empowered.
