It is a tremendous privilege to be welcomed into people's stories. As a therapist, I do not take this for granted. I am deeply passionate about healing work, helping folks to find more meaning in their lives, and to remind individuals of their unique wisdom within. A therapeutic approach should not be “one size fits all”. I tailor my services to meet clients where they are on their wellness journey and learn more about their specific needs, hopes, and goals. Considering the mind, body, and spirit, I embrace a “whole person” approach to working with clients as I believe our healing power is maximized when we look holistically at our being. It would be a pleasure to connect with you. Please do reach out with a text, email, or call if you have any questions or curiosities. You deserve to remember how remarkable life can be. I work with a variety of insurance companies or have a flat $100/hr out-of-pocket rate if you will not be using insurance.

“What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” -Mary Oliver I've been thinking about this every day since the first time I read it (or rather the first time it smacked me in the face, oh, so many years ago). It's some question, isn't it? Sometimes it inspires me. Sometimes it frightens me. Since it always challenges me, I've rooted my practice philosophy in it. It's kind of like the adult version of 'what do you want to be when you grow up'? How in the world do we answer that? If the question moves you like it does me then we're probably a good fit. Let's talk about the complexities of making life choices and finding fulfillment.
Everyone has a story, and I believe good mental health care starts by truly listening to it. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I approach each patient as a unique individual with their own experiences, strengths, and goals. My role is not just to diagnose or prescribe, but to partner with you in understanding what you're going through and finding practical ways to help you feel better and move forward. I provide telehealth services to adults across Wisconsin, making care accessible from the comfort and privacy of your own space. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, you're not alone—and I'm here to help support you.
Clients often tell me that I'm "real." I think they appreciate my irreverence, my sense of humor, and the fact that, while I'm kind/gentle, I never BS them. In other words, I come to the therapeutic relationship with curiosity, acceptance, and authenticity. Thus, clients are free to experiment with new ways of being, uncovering insights and answers along the way. Clients often tell me that I'm "real." Lots of people, myself included at times, buy into the notion that beating ourselves up is somehow noble or productive. In our work together, I'll encourage you, rather, to approach your challenges with compassion and inquisitiveness, trusting that you have the resources you need to achieve your goals. If you're ready to explore, I'm eager to listen. Please don't hesitate to reach out!

My name is Bintou Schoen and I am a board certified general adult psychiatrist. I have worked with various populations and have a diverse background working with people with trauma, crisis, depression, anxiety, psychosis, social anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, grief and loss, relationship problems, etc. I received my undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia. I then attended the Medical College of Georgia where I obtained my medical degree. After that, I received my psychiatric training at the University of South Florida in Tampa Florida. I perform psychiatric evaluations and formulate treatment plans with input from my patients - no single approach is right for every individual. I very much like a positive and practical approach to mental health treatment including medication management and therapy. I think it is important to find balance in your life and it starts with improving self-esteem and good self care. I like a person centered approach meaning finding solutions that work for you based on your values and priorities.
Are you struggling to concentrate? Are you losing your passion for life? Are past traumas weighing you down? Please reach out to me today. I have helped hundreds of clients and I may be able to help you too.
