Therapists for college students near 15213
Hi, I'm Ashley! Please feel free to self schedule or send an inquiry on my website for a consult or appointment. I work best with students who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, and constant overthinking. You might find yourself spiraling with “what if” thoughts, feeling like nothing you do is ever good enough, or stressing nonstop about exams, relationships, or the future. Some students I support struggle with panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, or relationship anxiety (like ROCD), which can feel isolating and confusing. Whether you're avoiding work because of fear of failure, checking things over and over, or feeling mentally exhausted from managing school and life, it doesn't have to stay this way. I help students break free from these patterns using active, evidence-based therapy. Together, we’ll build tools to quiet your inner critic, manage stress, and get back to living fully, not just surviving college. Virtual and in-person sessions are available. I’m here to support you in showing up for the life you want.

You’re here because you finally want to take back control of your life and begin to find your true self again. Your struggles do not have to define you and you deserve to be happy. It's time to put yourself first and reach out for help. Let us work together in finding balance through being present, practicing self-care, and positive thinking.

Prior to opening my practice, I worked with college students for four years in various college counseling centers. I enjoy working with this population, as it is a time for challenge, growth, and change. I identify as a generalist, and have specialized skills in the treatment of trauma and PTSD, anxiety disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. In addition, I have significant experience in working with relationship concerns, grief and loss, women's issues, and life transitions. In my practice, I draw from many evidence-based theories and interventions including Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe the therapeutic alliance is the foundation of treatment, and therefore work to establish and maintain an empathetic and non-judgmental environment where patients feel safe, heard, and supported. Ultimately, a strong therapeutic relationship leads to an ability to challenge patients to achieve their goals, reach their fullest potential, and create lasting change. I am aware of the privilege it is to be on this journey with my patients, and I bring my authentic self and expertise to each session.

Relationships are both the most difficult and the most rewarding things about being human, and they are HARD! I believe very strongly in the power of relationships to heal as well as hurt. I help people look at the relationships in their lives and figure out how to move forward in a new way. I work with all types of relationships. My particular areas of interest include defiant teenagers, self-harm, couples therapy, mindfulness, and trauma work. When the most important relationships in our lives are strong, I believe that we can handle whatever problems life throws at us.
Welcome! I work primarily with those who identify as high achievers, problem solvers, and doers. Often that identity can be really functional in some parts of life, but leave us feeling stuck, confused, and frustrated in other parts of life. You can find me on Instagram at @act_therapy_pgh.
Our minds are powerful—they can pull us into the past or push us into the future, making it hard to stay grounded in the present. When this happens, we can feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional pain, often losing touch with our sense of identity, purpose, and what matters most. This can be especially true during times of transition, like college or early adulthood, when you may be navigating academic pressure, relationships, career uncertainty, or figuring out who you are and where you’re headed. As a therapist, I work collaboratively with you to identify what’s keeping you stuck and help you reconnect with your life in a meaningful way. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical tools to support lasting change. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can gain clarity, find relief, and grow. I specialize in addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and OCD, and I welcome anyone navigating life’s challenges—especially young adults looking for direction, balance, and support.

My goal for therapy is to help each person function at their best through all sorts of situations that pop up in life. We all have struggles. Despite our best efforts and intentions, those struggles can leave us feeling overwhelmed and we don't even understand how we got here. I want to help you explore and address your concerns, by encouraging a sense of curiosity and humor, when appropriate. Rather than approach our troubles with trepidation, why not approach them with interest – be curious about ourselves, how we came to be who/how we are, how the things we have tried have worked/not worked or even made things worse and what other options may exist that we have not yet thought of or tried? Learning to be curious about ourselves and the challenges we face, and to find humor and grace along the way, allows us to be less judgmental and feel less ashamed of ourselves and our struggles, so we can build a life we want on more solid ground. I’m a psychologist with 20 years of experience working with college-aged (traditional and non) individuals. I have a very collaborative approach – you are the expert on you. I incorporate a number of therapy approaches, using what I believe will best fit you and the difficulties discussed. I know how difficult it is to seek help and it's my job to make this easier by offering a warm, empathetic and safe place to explore and address your concerns. If you are ready to feel better about yourself and explore how you might meaningfully address the challenges in your life, I am excited to join you in this process!
