I combine compassionate care with evidence-based therapies to enable you to set and meet goals, feel better, and live the life you want and deserve. My goal is to provide you with a caring, comfortable, and supportive environment to discuss your concerns and help you develop new skills to improve your quality of life. Some of my clients only require a few sessions while others may benefit from longer-term counseling. I offer video therapy to patients using a secure video chat platform. This allows you to see a therapist from the comfort and convenience of your own home. When I'm not seeing patients, I am a professor at Rutgers. My specialties include: depression, anxiety, insomnia, bereavement, difficulties adjusting to new life circumstances (e.g., break ups, new jobs, graduation, medical diagnoses), stress related to caregiving, and behavioral management of medical issues. I am results-oriented -- together we will track your progress to ensure that therapy is actually having a positive effect on your life. If you're thinking about therapy, reach out to me and we can chat to see if I'd be a good fit for you.

I work with students who feel like life is moving too fast and expectations are piling up. Maybe you’re stressed about classes, friendships, or future plans, or just feeling unsure of yourself. Therapy is a place to slow down, be heard, and figure out what really matters to you. The people I work with often struggle with stress, self-doubt, or adjusting to big life changes. Together, we explore ways to handle pressure, build confidence, and find balance in your academic and personal life. Sessions are a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. You’ll leave with practical strategies and a clearer sense of your own goals and values, so you can navigate college life with more confidence and calm.

About Me: Hello, I'm Nhi, a dedicated first-generation social work intern in my second year at Columbia University's School of Social Work. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Grinnell College and bring a deeply personal understanding of mental health challenges shaped by my own experiences as an Asian American in foster care. My journey has been profoundly influenced by the intersection of intergenerational trauma, immigration, and systemic inequalities, providing me with a unique perspective on the complexities of healing and resilience. My Approach: I believe that trauma and mental health struggles do not exist in a vacuum—they are often reflections of broader societal issues. Growing up in a family affected by intergenerational trauma, poverty, and systemic discrimination, I understand firsthand the cascading effects these forces can have on a person's mental and emotional well-being, even into adulthood. This insight drives my therapeutic approach, where I aim to provide a compassionate, culturally sensitive space for clients to explore their experiences and find healing. I bring extensive experience working with diverse populations and complex trauma. During my time as a case manager at a domestic violence shelter, I supported individuals and families from all walks of life, many of whom were dealing with overlapping traumas, including domestic violence, mental health struggles, homelessness, childhood trauma, and identity-based discrimination. This experience reinforced my belief that trauma and mental health challenges are often intertwined with larger societal issues. Mental health challenges can significantly impact daily functioning, even long after the precipitating events have occurred. In some cases, there may be no clear cause, yet the impact is still profound. Regardless of the situation, everyone deserves support in their healing journey. In my practice, I adopt a flexible, client-centered approach, tailoring my methods to meet each individual's unique needs and strengths. I utilize a range of therapeutic techniques, including trauma-informed therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I believe every person has the inherent capacity to navigate their challenges, and my role is to support, empower, and provide tools for their journey toward healing. What to Expect: In our work together, you can expect a supportive, non-judgmental environment where your experiences are honored, and your voice is central to the healing process. I am committed to understanding your story in its full context, recognizing the multiple layers of identity and experience that shape who you are. Whether you're dealing with personal trauma, managing day-to-day stressors, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I'm here to walk alongside you, providing the guidance and support you need. I am a pre-licensed therapist intern at Sol Health working under the supervision of Susan Chung, LCSW, MPH. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists in-training accruing clinical hours. I love working with clients that are struggling with dating, relationships, or family conflict. I’m trained a few different modalities but all of them are direct and I give feedback. Our sessions will not feel like you are just talking at me. We will actively work together to figure out what issues are impeding your happiness and tools to change them.

College can be one of the most exciting times in your life: but it can also bring a lot of pressure. Between classes, deadlines, part time jobs, and planning for the future, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. If you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trouble concentrating, mood swings, or just not feeling like yourself, you are not alone—and you don’t have to push through it without support. I’m a provider with extensive experience treating adults 18+ across a wide range of mental health conditions. Over the years, I’ve worked in some of New York City’s leading hospitals, including Mount Sinai’s Main Campus, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Queens Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, and Bronx Lebanon Hospital. I’ve provided care in emergency psychiatric settings (CPEP), inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and through telepsychiatry—giving me a deep understanding of both urgent and long-term mental health needs. My current focus is medication management, tailored specifically to your unique symptoms and goals. Whether you’re struggling with focus, managing your mood, dealing with panic attacks, or just trying to function under the weight of constant stress, I’ll work with you to find a treatment plan that fits—and actually helps. To make care more accessible, I offer flexible evening and weekend appointments, so your mental health doesn’t have to take a back seat to everything else on your plate. With a South Asian background and fluency in Urdu/Hindi, I deeply understand the cultural stigma and access challenges many patients face. This insight informs my compassionate, individualized, evidence-based approach, especially for complex cases.
