I use a creative and relational approach to find the appropriate fusion of therapeutic interventions to support your needs and work through identified challenges. I have significant interest and expertise in relationship work (specifically healthy/unhealthy relationship practices that can be applied to romantic, platonic, or familial relationships). Welcome! I'm a New York-based psychotherapist specializing in diverse therapeutic modalities. I received my Master's in Social Work from Hunter College of Social Work and was awarded The Clark Foundation Fellowship from Baruch College. I have worked with both college and graduate students and love supporting young adults during these years in their lives, a transformative period that is often filled with both opportunities and challenges. I have worked with students who present with anxiety, depression, academic stress, and relationship concerns. My approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and a strengths-based perspective, always aiming to empower students to take control of their mental health and personal growth. Together, we will work toward building resilience, improving mental health, and fostering personal growth during this important stage of your life.
My approach is to start where you are. I want to hear your story and your journey. We will explore your concerns and decide together about possible next steps and solutions. I have over 20 years of non-profit social service work, particularly during the peak of the AIDS epidemic. I learned so much about perseverance, courage, and grief through my experience. I look forward to supporting you towards finding the same healing and discovering just how strong you really are. I am a graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a proud member of Gen X. I have extensive expertise with LGBTQIA+ young adults, grief and grieving, depression, and anxiety. I am a native New Yorker, a married lesbian in New York City, and a parent to two cranky cats. I am committed to a safe, welcoming space, and my goal is to assist you on the journey towards healing.
Kelly Solis is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York. She has more than 10 years of experience working in the social service and behavioral health field. Throughout her career, Kelly has worked with various populations in a number of different settings. Currently, Kelly provides individual psychotherapy to adults who are struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety and panic, grief, or stress. Many of Kelly's clients experience feelings of sadness and low mood, sleep difficulties, low energy, trouble with concentration; as well as, feelings of anxiousness and worry, difficulty relaxing, and feelings of restlessness. She also provides support to those experiencing difficulty coping with life transitions, loss, relationship issues/conflict, work stress, and trauma. Kelly’s approach to therapy is client centered and strengths based. Kelly helps clients identify how certain patterns of behavior or unresolved traumas can impact their functioning in the present. Using CBT concepts, she educates clients on how one's thoughts can influence their feelings and behaviors. For those experiencing stress, Kelly works with her client to identify what is contributing to their distress and explore ways to improve coping, so that those stressors become more manageable. Kelly takes pride in meeting clients where they are and fosters a space where clients feel heard, safe, and where judgement does not exist. During the intake, Kelly will utilize that visit to gather information to understand the client's history and set goals together. She may assign homework which can help clients become more insightful as they move through the therapeutic process. Clients often leave sessions feeling relieved, understood, and overtime notice a reduction in symptoms. Whether it's your first time pursuing therapy or you're familiar with the process, it's important to choose someone who is a good fit and that meets your needs. Everyone deserves to have a space where they can be their authentic selves, express their feelings, receive unbiased feedback, and where they feel supported. I understand personally how challenging it can be dealing with stress, depression, anxiety and other life issues, which helps me relate with clients on a deeper level. There's a life saying that I love which is "Grow through what you go through." If you are in need of support or looking to foster change and growth, please feel free to contact me for a free phone consultation.
I work mainly with young adults (18-40) who may be dealing with mental health challenges that include ADHD, anxiety and depression. I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD-related concerns, phobias, and sleep difficulties Over the past several years, I have noticed that many college students struggle academically due to undiagnosed ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and attention-related concerns that may go overlooked. In response to this need, I have added comprehensive and affordable ADHD diagnostic testing to my practice to help students better understand their difficulties, access appropriate treatment recommendations, and obtain accommodations when clinically indicated for academic settings and standardized testing. In addition to ADHD testing, I frequently work with students experiencing anxiety, obsessive thinking, perfectionism, panic, OCD symptoms, sleep disruption, and stress related to academic performance and life transitions.

When you make the decision to attend therapy, you are making the decision to prioritize your wellbeing in a fundamentally unique way. Therapy is something that can be challenging, but also transformative– Especially for those who have not been listened to, believed, or had the freedom to pause and practice introspection due to the demands of life. Knowing the challenges of finding a therapist who can understand your life experiences, I prioritize working with communities with whom I share personal experience. This includes, but is not limited to: LGBTQIA+, polyamorous/ENM, BDSM/kink, sex worker, SA/DV survivors, neurodivergent, chronically ill & disabled communities. My work is grounded in Relational-Cultural Therapy, which emphasizes the importance of the relationship between therapist and client as an essential part of the therapeutic process. I aim to minimize power dynamics in the room between therapist and client, and firmly believe you are the expert of your life. Rather than an authority in the room, I see my role as a collaborator in helping you achieve your therapy goals. For those who wish to know my social location: I am a Black, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, polyamorous, non-binary therapist in my 30s. I come from a middle-class background in a mixed race household, am a US citizen, and was raised Catholic but am not religious. I approach therapy as a team effort grounded in trauma-informed, anti-racist, fat liberatory, sex & kink positive, and feminist ideals. My therapy practice is eclectic, borrowing from multiple modalities in order to find the best approach for each individual client, couple, or polycule. Common approaches I incorporate include: EFT (emotion focused therapy), IFS (internal family systems), Sex Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I work with clients on a variety of topics, but special interests include: Unpacking attachment wounds using IFS; Transition stages in Poly/ENM; Freedom from shame regarding sex & kink; Impacts of disability; Relationships to health, disordered eating, and/or fatness from a fat liberatory and body neutrality lens. I empower students pursuing graduate-level degrees to successfully navigate the balance between being a student and a young professional. Together, we establish boundaries in their personal and professional lives, skillfully manage family and romantic relationships, and strengthen their support systems. We eliminate negative thoughts, worries, and maladaptive habits, fostering a journey of growth and resilience.
I work alongside my clients to empower them and help build confidence in their ability to achieve their goals and create a life that feels fulfilling and balanced. Whether you're navigating dating, relationships, decision-making, life transitions, anxiety, depression, or your career, I’m in your corner—believing in your capacity to grow, thrive, and make meaningful changes. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can better understand your emotions, build resilience, and develop healthier patterns in both relationships and how you see yourself. I understand that life as a young professional can be overwhelming and often leads to self-doubt and internal distress. I work with clients to uncover and shift the internal narratives that may be holding them back from showing up fully and authentically in relationships and life. In our sessions, I’ll help you manage stress and anxiety, set healthy boundaries, and navigate career transitions with intention.
The majority of my clients come to therapy expressing feelings of being overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, and stuck. I help Clients work through their feelings and develop effective coping skills. Upon completion of therapy, clients walk away with a feeling of renewal and self-confidence to manage life's challenges and enjoy life.
I’ve worked at a large nonprofit mental health agency providing culturally responsive care to children and adults. I collaborated closely with medical, psychiatric, and clinical teams to ensure individualized, effective treatment for each client. This experience strengthened my ability to deliver thoughtful, coordinated care grounded in each person’s unique needs.
Many of my clients are young adults, college students, graduate students, and working professionals who appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, low motivation, self-doubt, or difficulty navigating life transitions. Together, we identify the patterns keeping them stuck, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence in themselves and their future. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management, motivation, and self-esteem. Drawing from DBT, mindfulness-based practices, and Adlerian therapy, I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools for everyday life. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you can exhale, a place where you don’t have to hold everything together. Healing begins with compassion and connection, and real change happens when we feel understood without judgment. I don’t see my clients as diagnoses or problems to be fixed, but as whole people with complex stories.
