Tides Counseling and Wellness PLLC
We are a team of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) that share the goal of creating a welcoming and safe space to explore mental health concerns, develop tools and resources, and provide support in becoming the you that you aspire to be. We chose the name Tides, not only for our shared love of the beach but also because in life "tides" or circumstances often change and we strive to be agents of positive changing tides in the lives of people we serve. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a therapy treatment plan. We promise to be there for you every step of your journey. We must partner together to help you gain insight into your own experience and life. You’ll often hear me guiding clients to their own answers through questions like: What do you actually need in this moment? Is there another way to express yourself that feels authentic to you? What are you missing out in life because of this avoidance strategy? Is there anything familiar to you about that reaction/response? Go Inward, Gain Strength One of my strengths is meeting the person where they are in their lives. This has come naturally to me and has been reinforced throughout my career as a helping professional. It is incredibly powerful to work with my clients to create change and witness them build confidence in themselves. If someone is super motivated and ready to work through their stuff, I can do that. If someone isn’t there yet and they need to problem solve marriage issues and don’t want to dig into the past, I can support that too. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. You determine the pace, the goal, the direction. My passion is utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) as an intervention to help you go inward and find your solutions. You are the best expert in your life and I urge you to understand and trust your gut reaction. EMDR is an intervention that is particularly effective for helping individuals who have experienced distressing events; and there is strong data supporting the use of EMDR to alleviate symptoms of OCD, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, and shifting negative core beliefs. My experience also includes working with individuals who have experienced trauma. This includes individuals who use or have used substances to cope. I have worked as an in-home therapist to children and families. This experience provided an up close look at the family system and the impact of trauma on that system. With Awareness, Comes Growth You can generate happiness and contentment from within yourself. It is possible to be calm and set boundaries with others. You can learn to identify the things that have shaped you and understand how this impacts your automatic responses. Allow me to partner with you to gain awareness into yourself, validate your instincts and grow your confidence.
Eva Schildhause, LCSW
I help clients get to know themselves closely. Early adulthood, coming off the chaos of adolescence, is a tough time, exacerbated by this extraordinarily tough time in the world. Working with me means sitting together and listening very carefully to you. As we listen together on a journey to discern your true self, we will hear many voices. Memories will surface. Feelings will come up. By exploring yourself in our treatment relationship, you can come to relate to yourself in a new way and gain clarity, confidence, and peace that you can handle what life brings. I specialize in psychodynamic treatment.

Do you often find yourself comparing yourself to those around you, wondering how they all seem to have it all figured out while you are just trying to hold it together? You are stressed, on edge, and wondering if anything will ever change. You may find yourself struggling to enjoy things in life, maybe even pulling back from friends and family because they may not understand. You are ready to make a change, to find balance, to be you – but you have no idea where to begin. Imagine what it would be like to feel like you aren’t just trying to make it through the day, but are actively participating in your life. You could learn to quiet your self-doubt and create space for self-compassion and curiosity. You could begin to understand your needs and how to respond, learning to focus your energy on the things that matter to you. My approach begins with meeting you where you are and developing a genuine and trusting relationship. Together, we will work to find tools that help you better manage your daily stressors so that you can feel safe in exploring, understanding, healing, and growing. Greetings! I’m Robyn and I am so excited to be a part of your journey! My bubbly, expressive, and warm personality attributes to a calm professional environment. I welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Development and Early Education. I started my career as a teacher dedicated to working with children from birth to school age within childcare and school environments. In 2020, I received a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Substance Dependence from North Carolina Central University. Since, I have been able to use my prior experience to support a diverse population of individuals, 18 and older, seeking mental health and substance use services in agency settings. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy implementing a variety of approaches based on the client’s specific needs. This includes a humanistic approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Solution- Focused Therapy (SFT). Through our work together, I hope to meet you where you are in your journey to support your progress towards determined goals in order to bring out the best in you.

"You deserve the love you so freely give to others.” – Alexandra Elle My practice is centered around you as a “whole person,” not just as a collection of diagnoses. As a therapist I seek to offer a full range of therapeutic services using theory and evidence-based practice, while also simply sitting in your challenging spaces with you, providing a comforting, nurturing, judgement-free environment, and pushing you to break through and progress in your mental health journey. I believe that taking care of yourself is the single most important endeavor you can undertake in your life, and I hope to be able to assist you in any way I can as you begin looking inward. Much like life, treatment is everchanging. Each session we will work together to develop a treatment regimen that best suits your needs both in the moment and as you move forward. We will complete an initial assessment to help me better understand your basic needs. I’ll gather information from you about your background, history, family dynamics, lifestyle, culture, socioeconomic status, and current symptoms. Then, we will have a few rapport-building sessions to get to know one another as I continue assessing your needs. As we progress, we will begin developing goals for your treatment plan centered around decreasing your symptomology and bringing balance back to your life. I will also often present other resources in our community that I believe can eliminate some of the burdens you face. Each session I will use the tools, skills, and knowledge I possess to support you, push you, and guide you through what you’re facing. I believe as a therapist it is my job to find a balance between comforting you and validating your feelings, while also challenging you and often telling you things you may not be thrilled to hear. It is my goal to make sure you feel safe and secure in treatment in addition to presenting you with alternate ways of thinking, gently coaching you through correcting any harmful behaviors, and changing your perspectives on how you perceive your reality. My process is to get to know you on an individual level, gain your trust, provide a safe and validating space for you to release your emotions, and then walk alongside you as you learn to advance in your mental health.
