The Kellin Foundation’s mission is to strengthen resilience among children, families, adults and communities through trauma-informed behavioral health services focused on prevention, treatment, and healing. We provide free services that help clients break cycles of trauma that contribute to mental health and substance use challenges. Our team of highly-trained professionals helps people process what has happened to them, to practice new skills that contribute to healing, and to gain confidence that they can chart a different course for themselves and their families. To achieve our mission, we provide evidence-based, trauma-responsive counseling, peer support, advocacy, and case coordination services. When people have a safe place to practice putting thoughts and feelings into words, they find they grow psychologically stronger over time - and more satisfied with various aspects of life. I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. (Even if one has had a counseling experience in the past, it can still be difficult to start with a new therapist.) It makes sense if you have some hesitation about taking this step. This skill can help one to be centered in the chaos and help to focus on your healing process. I also used techniques found in Mindfulness that helps to focus on the present moments versus worries about past or future. I believe in the ability within each individual to overcome the challenges that they face during the course of their lives. There should be a genuine relationship between the therapist and the client. This purpose is the creation of a safe place for the client to grow in their awareness of themselves and their environment. I believe in these theories because they center on the individual and their innate power to overcome their personal challenges. All of these theories and techniques give the client the confidence to realize that they do have the power to create their own reality and make positive choices. It is vital that the client feels a connection with their therapist to provide the trust involved in making the necessary changes in themselves.

Or the opposite you understand the how, you have done lots of therapy and continue to feel like you are not making the progress you wish. Whether you've never been to therapy before or you have tried it before but feel stuck; you are in the right place. Therapy is not "one size fits all". This idea is incredibly important to me in helping you create change in your life because not a single client’s stories are ever the same even if they are similar, your unique experience needs a unique treatment approach. One of the approaches I use which is different from most is Brainspotting.
