Welcome, I am so glad you are here. Experiencing a loss or trauma can feel alienating and leave you lacking connection. Maybe you have experienced a loss/trauma while also navigating pregnancy, postpartum or infertility. Maybe you are/were military but don't feel supported by the systems in place to "help". You might want to feel different but struggle to navigate the how. Or the opposite you understand the how, you have done lots of therapy and continue to feel like you are not making the progress you wish. Whether you've never been to therapy before or you have tried it before but feel stuck; you are in the right place. Therapy is not "one size fits all". This idea is incredibly important to me in helping you create change in your life because not a single client’s stories are ever the same even if they are similar, your unique experience needs a unique treatment approach. One of the approaches I use which is different from most is Brainspotting. Whether it's traditional therapy, brainspotting or clinical supervision you are in need of; I would love to connect with you to discuss your needs and if I am the right fit for you!

Are you confused and do not know what your next steps are? Do you look in the mirror and no longer recognize the face staring back at you? If so, just know that this is the first step to a new start and I look forward to us working together to assist you in finding the balance. I have a love for people who are in the unknown and stuck points. People who are uncertain of themselves or their identity. Individuals that need to feel empowered and healed. Ones who have learned to operate on autopilot in the outside world only due to avoiding healing the inside world. If this sounds like you, reach out so we can unpack it together. During our sessions, we will develop a collaborative relationship where we work on any presiding issues that you have. This will allow you to really dig deep within yourself to gain a better understanding of your self-awareness. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to be your most authentic self. My therapeutic style isn’t your textbook therapist. I aim to provide some light through relatability, experience and knowledge, while we take a close look at how we can rewrite your story. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and I am to be more holistic. I will combine my personal and professional experiences to get you to a place of whole healing. Together, we will find a balance and your truest self.

Hello. I think the most important element of a successful client / therapist relationship is one of safety. A place where you can say and talk about things you may never have said before. I believe that because having experienced that myself is what lead me to this field as well. As a college student you are entering one of the most exciting and yet unfamiliar times of your life. There are so many opportunities yet with that comes potential obstacles. This is the time in your life where you truly begin to explore and define who you are. Your are faced with many choices that either bring you closer to your goal or move you away from it. Technology puts so much at our fingertips and sometimes that can be a obstacle in itself. Many of the very things that you enjoy about college life can become compulsive or even addictive. Think alcohol, drugs, pornography, and sex to name a few.

College can be one of the most exciting and overwhelming seasons of your life. You may be adjusting to being away from home, navigating new relationships, questioning your major, managing academic pressure, or quietly carrying anxiety, depression, or past trauma that hasn’t had space to heal. On the outside, it can look like everyone else is handling it just fine — but inside, you might feel stuck, exhausted, unmotivated, or unsure of who you’re becoming. If you’re in that space, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to work through it by yourself. I work with college students who are in the middle of real life transitions — identity shifts, relationship changes, academic stress, family expectations, grief, trauma, and the quiet weight of self-doubt. Depression during college often doesn’t look like “sad all the time.” It can show up as procrastination, isolation, low motivation, difficulty focusing, or feeling disconnected from the person you used to be. Trauma can show up in relationships, in trust, in sleep, or in how hard you are on yourself. Together, we slow things down. We make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. We identify patterns that are keeping you stuck and build practical tools that help you feel more steady, confident, and grounded. My approach is collaborative and straightforward. I don’t believe in sitting back silently while you struggle to find words. We talk. We process. We challenge unhelpful thoughts. We work through emotional blocks. I integrate approaches such as CBT, trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based strategies to help you build resilience while honoring your story. My goal is not just symptom relief — it’s helping you understand yourself better so you can move forward with clarity and confidence. College is a time of growth — but growth can feel uncomfortable. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, numb, stuck, or unsure about your direction, therapy can be a space to reset and regain momentum. You deserve support as you figure out who you are and who you want to become. If you’re ready to take the next step, I invite you to Request an Initial Appointment and begin therapy. You don’t have to wait until things get worse. Let’s work together to help you regain balance, rebuild confidence, and move through this season with strength.

I have been a practicing psychologist in Boone, NC for almost 20 years. I have worked with college students in various capacities throughout most of my career. Therapy is like taking a class on yourself. You are the expert on you. My goal is to hold a safe, comfortable space for you to feel heard and seen and to know that your feelings are valid. I believe you/we all innately have the strength and ability to endure, overcome, heal and grow. I want to help instill confidence and motivation to support your on journey. To help you feel grounded and find ways to tap into your inner strength. By gaining insight into the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors you will be able to improve you mental health and reach your behavioral goals. Together we will identify goals and create a plan to achieve them. In therapy you will learn coping skills and strategies to navigate difficult situations and emotions. At times this means processing through past events, current experiences and traumas. Other times, there is a need to focus on tangible action-oriented goals. To learn concrete strategies to manage the demands of life, cope with stress and regulate mood. Perhaps this is even a time to challenge yourself as you are growing and becoming the version of yourself you hope to be. Transitioning into school as a freshman, as well as into your post graduate life, can be hard to navigate. You are faced with various demands: academic, social, financial and otherwise. I take a multi-systemic approach to treatment to ensure you are fully utilizing resources and supports (on campus and in the community) that may help you along. My areas of expertise include but are not limited to: anxiety and panic; depression, bipolar disorders and mood dysregulation; substance use and abuse; assessment, treatment and management of adult ADHD; grief; management of chronic medical conditions that are co-morbid to mental health issues; developmental transitions; college student wellness. I take an eclectic approach to therapeutic interventions built on the foundation of a strong therapeutic alliance. Using a strengths based, multi-systemic and holistic approach; I draw from interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI).

Hi! My name is Karin and I am a licensed mental health counselor. I work with many different presenting concerns and help students tackle any difficulties that come up in their everyday life. In working together, my intention is and will always be to foster an environment that is filled with safety and trust, as well as void of judgment. Being vulnerable can be very difficult on its own, and it’s essential to me to create a space where vulnerability does not come with any more obstacles or barriers. I understand how hard it can be to talk about our problems and the issues we struggle with on a daily basis, and it’s important to me to create an environment where it is easier to talk about what’s going on. I deeply enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds and cultures and having the privilege to provide support along the way. I would love to meet you. Please reach out.

I have been working in North Carolina for the past 34 years. I work with clients ages 12 and up, focusing on depression, anxiety, grief, and career development. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and my Master's in School Counseling. I worked as a counselor in the school system for 28 years before deciding to practice therapy full-time. I believe that the foundation to all therapy is to develop a trusting and non-judgemental relationship. I use a variety of approaches based on client's needs that we both feel will be the most effective.
