Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing support to adults and university students around managing anxiety, life transitions, stress, career and academics, improving body image, and navigating interpersonal relationships. I have extensive experience working with young adults in college mental health settings, having trained at MIT and Tufts University, and having worked as a staff psychologist at the Harvard University Counseling Center. My approach in therapy is supportive, warm, active, curious, non-judgmental and caring. I work with clients to enhance anxiety management, coping skills, self-care, problem solving, stress management, and communication skills to create a more positive experience of day-to-day life. In addition, I help clients challenge unhelpful thought and behavior patterns that get in the way of having a healthy view of yourself and the world around you. Hi, I’m Eva, a licensed mental health counselor and owner of Rooted Behavioral Health & Wellness in Massachusetts. I work with adolescents and young adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck or like their thoughts have taken over. I draw from evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while also keeping sessions real and engaging—because sometimes a little humor can make hard things feel more manageable. Together, we'll take small steps, challenge old patterns, and move forward in ways that once felt impossible. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can be real, feel understood, and actually learn tools that make a difference in your everyday life.
Throughout my career I have successfully treated people with symptoms of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD. I enjoy the collaboration with other treating providers such as psychotherapists and primary care providers in maximizing the benefits of psychopharmacological treatment. I am committed to high standards of care following the latest clinical research. While anxiety disorders and mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder) have been the focus of my practice, do not hesitate to contact me if you feel I can help you. I have an extensive experience in multiple behavioral health settings where I treated conditions such as PTSD, ADHD, and other mental health disorders. People of all backgrounds are welcome to my practice. Tele-medicine psychopharmacology only. I do not take insurance, self-pay only.
Everyone deserves to live a life filled with pleasure, purpose, and meaning. Sometimes, we struggle with the inevitable difficulties of life and feel anxious, down, or stuck. I enjoy helping clients engage in self-exploration so they can stop struggling and start living the life they want to live. My specialties include mood and anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and difficult life transitions. I particularly enjoy working with college students, student-athletes, and young adults. My therapeutic approach is integrative, incorporating cognitive-behavioral, relational, and mindfulness-based approaches. I utilize warmth and authenticity to create a safe, non-judgmental environment. Emphasizing total well being, I help clients to examine the connection between mental and physical health and to build adaptive coping skills to live healthier lives. I also provide career counseling for those who are confused about their career path, having difficulty selecting a college major, or who feel unfulfilled in their jobs. Applying evidenced-based assessments and career development theory, this time-limited service provides insight into fitting careers based on one's interests, values, personality style, and skills.
I specialize in working with clients who are experiencing a multitude of challenges, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, disability/chronic illness, identity exploration, and challenges with self-esteem. This can include family/relationship issues, life transitions (including college/early adulthood), or identity formation. I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals, especially women with ADHD. Supporting LGBTQ+ mental health from an intersectional lens is another focus. I also have an interest in working with clients who are exploring immigrant experience, family dynamics, and generational trauma. I previously worked in college counseling (at Wellesley College) and residential life (at Harvard College), so I'm well-attuned to the specific experiences and challenges of college student life! As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I believe that our experiences are shaped by our relationships with ourselves, other people, and the world at large. My work is informed by feminist, queer, disability, and critical race theory. I also integrate narrative therapy, which allows us to reimagine the stories we tell about ourselves and our lives. I am deeply attentive to how identity and marginalization can impact one's experiences and movement through the world. In my work, I strive for a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and socially just practice. I meet clients with curiosity, warmth, and nuance to explore their experiences, relationships, and challenges. My goal is to co-create a welcoming and supportive space in which clients can tell/retell their stories, appreciate their strengths, and work towards their goals
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with fourteen years experience working with clients collaboratively as they navigate change, transition, and life stressors. I am currently offering telehealth only at this time. I look forward to seeing if we would be a good match to work together towards your goals!

I am an integrative, trauma-focused, queer therapist dedicated to helping people understand themselves better. I particularly enjoy working with clients who want to be in more authentic, connected relationships with partners and family members, want to better understand how trauma has impacted their life and shed patterns that are no longer useful, or want to parent differently than they were parented. My areas of specialized training include interpersonal trauma and PTSD (sexual assault, childhood abuse, domestic violence), attachment and relationships, perinatal mental health, and infant/early childhood mental health. My approach is informed by an anti-oppressive, feminist, and identity-affirming lens. I hold a perspective that our systems and culture impact our sense of self and how we show up in the world. You know yourself best, and I am here to create a nonjudgmental space for you to bring your full self to learn and grow in the ways that are most important to you. I balance processing to better understand a root cause and change patterns with learning new skills. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership, welcoming feedback and showing up with warmth and authenticity, integrating humor and gentle challenging where appropriate. Many of the students I work best with are unsure about medication—or have tried it before and didn’t get the results they hoped for. You might feel hesitant about starting something new, worried about side effects, or unsure if medication is even the right step for you. Some students come in after a frustrating experience, where a medication didn’t help, caused unwanted effects, or just didn’t feel like a good fit. Others have been trying to manage things on their own but are starting to feel stuck with anxiety, low mood, or ongoing stress. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and focused on helping you make informed decisions. Medication is always a choice, not an expectation. We take time to understand what’s been going on, what hasn’t worked in the past, and what your options are moving forward. If medication is part of the plan, we approach it carefully and adjust based on how you actually feel—not just a checklist. Alongside medication management, I provide clear education and brief supportive therapy so you understand what’s happening and have practical ways to cope day-to-day. If you’re looking for a balanced, no-pressure approach where your concerns are taken seriously, we’ll likely be a good fit.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in starting therapy. I have a lot of experience supporting college and advanced degree students who are dealing with anxiety, OCD, and stress. I take a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), goals-focused approach. I am licensed in Massachusetts and New York and I can see students in either state--in fact, I work with a number of students who go to school in MA but live in NY when they are not on campus and vice versa. **Teletherapy only. My approach to therapy has a strong focus on mindfulness, self-compassion and self-care. Additionally, I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and addressing cognitive distortions when working with Anxiety and/or Depression. I utilize a very structured approach to therapy with opportunity for input and feedback. My goal is to remind clients that they are doing so much better than they give themselves credit for, but to also give them tools and coping skills to take with them throughout life. I believe that by creating more space for self-compassion, we can improve many of our negative feelings and behaviors.
