Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
With over 10 years of experience, I feel deeply honored by the trust clients place in me when they open their hearts and share their inner world. I have experience with trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and relational problems. My passion for working with diverse populations led me to pursue the Global Mental Health: Immigration and Trauma Certificate from Harvard University. I strive to see my clients beyond their diagnoses and to raise awareness of the societal and cultural challenges that may prevent them from fulfilling their true potential I work best with high-achieving individuals who may appear successful outwardly but feel overwhelmed or uncertain internally. Many of my clients are immigrants or from multicultural backgrounds, navigating identity, belonging, and the pressures of academic or professional life, while also seeking to align their success with deeper meaning, purpose, and spirit
I help students who are eager to thrive academically, socially, personally, and professionally. We process and develop strengths to navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship and identity issues, to help you achieve your goals and actualize your vision.

Whether you're struggling with your self-esteem, anxious thoughts, work stress, relationships, general motivation or more, I can help! My style is a blend of the following treatment approaches: CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Holistic Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy and Trauma-Informed Therapy. I am always seeking out trainings, books, and podcasts to inform these approaches and provide up-to-date psychoeducation and resources. I look forward to helping you explore and overcome your struggles with compassion, good humor, and evidenced based techniques. I won't be the type of therapist who just sits backs and nods. I want to help you with active problem solving and building skills. It may be helpful to know that I am a married mom of a 4 year old boy and dog mom of 8 year old doodle. I am a real person navigating life's ups and downs just like you and I'm happy to share parts of my personal life (mistakes and all) if I feel that it helps enhance the therapy process. I am currently accepting new clients & have evening openings. As your therapist, I strive to create a space in which you feel comfortable to explore your inner world in a deep and meaningful way. I work to provide support while challenging any maladaptive patterns. Therapy can help deepen insight, create healthier thinking and habits, and explore strengths while healing. My therapeutic approach is strengths-based and client-centered, and together we can help you realize your potential. I incorporate CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused, and trauma-informed therapy, depending on the specific needs and preferences of each of my clients. My practice specializes in adolescents and adults. I work with individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives due to life transitions, anxiety, low self-esteem, mood disorders, and more. I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support and challenge you to create healthier balance and reach your goals. With my therapy clients, I believe that the healing comes from having a strong, genuine connection between the client and the therapist. My goal is to provide empathy, support, and validation in order to encourage my clients to feel comfortable exploring their inner experiences and making healthy and positive changes.
Founded in 2018 by Cindy Faria, LICSW and inspired by the quote, "If you cannot change the wind, adjust your sails", our company embodies the belief that life's journey toward healthy relationships, joy, purpose, and more should not be navigated alone. We specialize in supporting individuals with anxiety/mood concerns, helping navigate and improve intimate and family relationships, guiding through life transitions, and caring for those suffering from issues rooted in systemic racial oppression, socioeconomic barriers, LGBTQIA+ concerns, cultural/spiritual differences, and more. However, please know that our doors are open to all individuals seeking therapeutic support.
My practice has always been focused on serving the BGLTQ+ Community, especially trans & gender diverse people, and polyamorous people. I tend to see a lot of geeky and neurodivergent people. My work as a therapist is informed by early training in both psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders and depression, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My approach draws from the applications of mindfulness and self-compassion in psychotherapy, as well as feminist approaches such as Relational-Cultural therapy. Ultimately, I believe it is the relationship that heals, as well as learning to be a kind friend to oneself. I believe that good mental health means knowing you have choices and making them consciously (not which choices you make). (Please note if contacting me: it will save time if you include your insurance company and whether HMO or PPO.)
I treat my clients with dignity, respect and compassion. I see young adults and adults with stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, panic, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder. It is a privilege to accompany them during these difficult times and help them to achieve their full academic or work potential.
I believe in making strong connections with, and being strong advocates for my clients. I have experience treating a wide variety of issues and disorders, especially anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stress/adjustment issues. I strive to create a warm and accepting environment where change and growth is possible. I have a focus on skill building, solutions focused therapy using a CBT/DBT based approach to help you address and work to improve your ability to cope and help make an impact on your stressful situations. I have worked with a wide range of clients, (age, race, LGBTQIA+, as well as couples). My goal is after each session you are in a better place, and better equipped, to move forward in your life. Having worked in college environments, I am familiar with the dynamics and stressors facing college students today and how to help you navigate them.
I work with anxious, overwhelmed women, including college students, young adults, millennials, and moms, who often feel stuck in their heads, emotionally drained, or unsure of themselves despite appearing capable and successful on the outside. You may be struggling with overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, stress, social anxiety, self-doubt, burnout, life transitions, or the pressure of trying to keep up with everyone's expectations while figuring out what you truly want for yourself. Using CBT, mindfulness, and holistic approaches, I help you better understand your patterns, manage anxiety, navigate big emotions, build self-confidence, and create healthier boundaries. Together, we'll work toward reducing overwhelm, quieting your inner critic, and helping you feel more grounded, balanced, and connected to what matters most. Therapy is an opportunity to slow down, gain clarity, explore your identity and goals, and develop practical tools to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. Whether you're adjusting to college, navigating a major life transition, struggling with relationships, or simply feeling lost, stuck, or overwhelmed, you don't have to figure it out alone. If you're ready to take the next step, I'd be honored to support you.

Hi, I’m Naomi, a licensed mental health clinician providing virtual therapy for college students across Massachusetts. College can be an exciting time, but it can also bring pressure, uncertainty, and challenges that are difficult to manage alone. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected, or simply not like yourself, therapy can offer a space to pause, feel understood, and find your footing again. I provide a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can talk openly about what you’re experiencing while developing practical tools for navigating college and everyday life. I work with students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, self-esteem concerns, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and individualized, drawing from CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and expressive approaches. Together, we’ll work toward greater self-awareness, emotional balance, confidence, and coping skills that feel realistic for you. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just have to be willing to take the first step.
Grounded and raised in a Chinese immigrant and Vietnamese refugee family, my roots and experiences have amplified my passion to shatter taboos in the AAPI community. I am committed to raising awareness and access to spaces of healing to communities of color. I will offer you a culturally-responsive, collaborative space to share your story. I aim to apply an anti-oppressive framework at the heart of my practice; and care deeply about the impact of intergenerational and race-based trauma. I value authenticity, transparency, and humor in our journey! The complexities of juggling responsibilities as a student, employee, caregiver, etc., can be super exhausting and I'm here to tell you that I see you! You are more than just a person embedded in an institution and your emotionality should be heard and cared for.
When we face difficulties, it can be helpful to organize our thoughts and feelings and understand our behaviors in order to facilitate meaningful change. Whether you are going through a life transition, navigating difficulties related to past traumas, enduring interpersonal difficulties, experiencing a loss, suffering from mental health symptoms, or in need of some support, it can be helpful to work with a mental health professional. As a licensed psychologist I look at my clients within a context of their environment, culture, values, and goals. I have worked with diverse adults experiencing various stressors that interefere with their everyday life with the goal of improving daily living. When working with clients, I used a strength-based approach and acknowledge that you are the expert. My degree is from Northeastern University where I graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and became Licensed in 1996. Most recently, I was the Director of Psychology for Wrentham Developmental Center and an Area Psychologist for the Department of Developmental Services. Previously, I had my own private practice where I facilitated numerous social groups, provided individual and family therapy, and served as a Consultant to Cranston ARC, and Bristol Community College. In joining Needham Psychotherapy Associates, I am returning to my passion for clinical work. My approach would be considered eclectic, involving systems work, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, positive behavioral supports, and psychodynamic or insight-oriented work. In my view, the modality of therapy is often determined by the issues that one presents with as well as the style and comfort level of both the therapist and the client. It is important to me that the process of therapy is collaborative, sometimes humorous, and that clients are empowered to make choices in the course of their treatment. Simultaneously, I think there are times when clients need to be challenged to make further growth and progress. I love stories and the stories of people’s lives. In therapy, my style would involve asking a lot of open-ended questions to learn more about your story and your journey. Therapy should involve clients feeling, safe, challenged, and learning strategies and approaches to handle your problems more effectively. In the end, ideally clients will feel better about themselves and their world. Most definitely, I believe that there are times that clients should laugh in therapy, as humor and laughing are an important part of healing. I love working with young adults and the new ways they have of looking at the world as well as helping them navigate their present challenges and future transitions.
