You might feel stuck or overwhelmed when challenges arise and there isn’t a clear path forward. I’ll provide a compassionate space for you to gain clarity, learn new skills, reduce stress, and grow. I can help you navigate your struggles and take steps forward when it feels difficult. I work with adults (18+) who are experiencing stress, worry, sadness, grief and loss, and those who are facing difficult decisions, or having trouble adjusting to changes. I’m sincerely interested in you, I recognize that you are a multi-dimensional person, and I consider your uniqueness in tailoring our work together. Therapy is an interactive process between us. Together, we’ll untangle unhelpful thought patterns, their underpinnings, and the difficult feelings and reactions they set into motion. We will look at your strengths and discover practical coping skills and strategies. My aim is to support you in developing compassion and flexibility in the way you relate to yourself, others, and the situations that bring you to therapy. My approach is collaborative, warm, and non judgmental. I understand and appreciate the unique needs of caregivers. My background includes working with people of all ages who have a sick or older person in their family as they honor grief and loss, manage stress, navigate complicated decisions, and take care of themselves.

I am a psychiatrist with a deep commitment to offering psychodynamic insight oriented psychotherapy as well as medications when appropriate. I can therefore offer integrated treatment for patients who sometimes require both approaches as well as psychotherapy alone for others who require that. I have a longstanding interest and 40 year experience in university and college mental health for students, faculty, and staff.

I utilize a psychodynamic (insight oriented) approach, integrating relational therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and trauma informed treatments. I also employ tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mentalization Based Therapy, when clinically appropriate. I strongly believe that our identities and backgrounds, including our culture, sexual orientation, and gender identity, play a large role in our development and identity formation. I value clinical relationships built on trust and aim to foster a safe and judgement-free space that helps my clients gain insight into their feelings, thoughts, and patterns of behavior. I work with emerging adults, college students, and adults dealing with identity challenges, major life transitions, depression / mood disorders, anxiety, trauma / PTSD, grief, and college adjustment concerns. As a gay man, I am passionate about working with clients from historically marginalized communities, including the LGBTQIA+ population. I conduct research in the Race and Gender Justice Lab of William James College and have co-published research on the experience of transgender youth seeking gender affirmations, as well as on gender and orientation diversity, in the court systems. I am currently the President Elect of the Graduate Student Board of Society for Personality Assessment.

Hello, I am Hope Notaro at Crooked Tree Counseling. I am a licensed mental health counselor who earned my bachelor and master's degrees at Lesley University. I have spent several years working in both school and community settings with children, teens, and young adults conducting both group and individual therapy. I approach counseling from a client centered and strengths based framework and draw from CBT and mindfulness based strategies. I see therapy as an opportunity for healing, growth, and developing insight about how people navigate their inner and outer worlds. I aim to create a compassionate and collaborative environment where you can identify and understand patterns in your past and present, explore and foster your sense of self, and develop coping skills for managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Please note that an intake coordinator from our group practice will respond to you to set up an initial consultation.-

College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Many of the students I work with are navigating stress from classes, relationships, or big life transitions. Some feel stuck in patterns of anxiety or self-doubt while others are working through the impact of past experiences and want support as they move forward. In our sessions, I show up as a real person - curious, kind, and grounded. My goal is to create a space where you can talk honestly without judgment, and where you feel understood. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy; instead, we’ll figure out what works best for you and move at a pace that feels manageable. I bring different approaches into our work together (CBT, ACT, mindfulness, or EMDR) but what that really means is I have a lot of tools we can try depending on what you’re needing. For some people, that’s learning practical strategies to handle stress and anxiety. For others, it’s making sense of difficult experiences or building confidence to move through challenges. At the heart of it, I want you to feel more connected to yourself, more clear about what matters to you, and more capable of handling whatever college (and life) throws your way. If you’re interested in support, I encourage you to reach out. I’d be glad to connect and see how I can help.

You’re thoughtful, capable, & accomplished, yet something doesn’t feel quite right. You may struggle with anxiety, depression, emotional reactivity, burnout, or relationship difficulties. Perhaps the same patterns keep repeating or life feels harder than it should. You may have tried pushing through or relying on self-help books, advice from others, or prior therapy without resolution. Many of the adults, teens, & couples I work with are looking for more than quick fixes or symptom relief alone. They want to understand why they struggle & reach a place where they can experience greater insight, confidence, direction, & inner peace. I’m a Harvard-trained clinical psychologist, researcher, & educator specializing in psychodynamic therapy. I work with complex problems across the lifespan, drawing on advanced training in personality, attachment, trauma, & relational functioning. I provide psychological testing for diagnostic clarification & offer dating consultation & clinical supervision. Finding the right fit matters. Whether you're pursuing personal growth, healing from old wounds, or seeking something different from past care, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, understood, & supported, while also gaining perspective. If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out to see whether working together might be helpful.

I work best with students who feel stressed, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the next steps in their life—whether that’s managing academic pressure, navigating relationships, or figuring out what comes after graduation. I help students make sense of their experiences, manage stress, and find practical ways to feel more balanced and confident. My sessions are supportive, and collaborative, giving you a space to be heard and explore what matters most to you.

I tend to work best with clients who are open to growth and willing to look a little deeper at how they’re living their lives. You might be asking yourself questions like: “Am I living the life I actually want?” or “Why do I feel so stuck, even when I know something needs to change?” Together, we explore the gap between how your life looks right now and how you want it to feel. We’ll look at the thoughts, emotions, or patterns that might be getting in the way -whether that’s anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling pulled in different directions. While many of my clients are teens and young adults who are starting to build insight into themselves, what matters most isn’t your age, it’s your willingness to be open, curious, and honest in the process. If you’re ready to show up authentically and work toward a life that feels more aligned with who you are, we’ll likely be a good fit.

Hello! I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Cambridge, MA and at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. My practice is in psychoanalysis. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a highly developed treatment model that helps us to fully resolve underlying causes of our distress, leading to meaningful and lasting changes in how we understand and relate to ourselves and the world around us. The aim is not only to resolve symptoms, but to go beyond, and help us develop a greater capacity for creativity, humor, relationships, and work. I often work with people who find themselves stuck in unsatisfying patterns of experience or feelings, that occur within their relationships, work, or internal worlds. Sometimes this involves helping people look at parts of themselves that are painful or unclear. Those who engage in psychotherapy and/or psychoanalysis, often find that old ways of feeling and being can change, and new patterns of experience can emerge.

I work from a feminist, attachment-informed, neurodiversity and queer affirming framework and incorporate relational, psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) approaches in my practice. We will explore how the different parts of your personality create patterns in your life, relationships and emotional dynamics that inhibit your capacity for love, authenticity, and peace. By compassionately witnessing how your parts have helped you survive, we will create a space for you to move towards a life free from the weight of trauma, oppression, shame, and grief. I work with adults and couples/polycules affected by mood/anxiety disorders, complex trauma/PTSD, identity concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, neurodivergence (ADHD, ASD), and LGBTQ+ issues. I work with clients across a wide spectrum of presenting concerns and specialize in working with clients healing from complex trauma. I am a lesbian and neurodivergent clinician with extensive experience working with queer and neurodivergent clients. As a former domestic violence advocate, I appreciate the power of relationships to both heal and harm. I am certified in EMDR and trained in IFS (Level I and II), including training in Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO).
