Therapists for college students near Boston College
Welcome to Amethyst Counseling Services I'm Rachel Lorenzo-Ramirez, a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor offering virtual therapy for students and young adults across New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. College life can be exciting—and overwhelming. Whether you’re navigating academic stress, anxiety, imposter syndrome, relationship challenges, cultural or family pressures, or questions about your identity, therapy can be a space to sort through it all with support and intention. I specialize in helping students process what’s beneath the surface using evidence-based approaches like CBT and EMDR. Together, we’ll work on building emotional clarity, self-compassion, and practical coping skills so you can feel more grounded and confident—on and off campus. This is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be open to the process of growing through what you're going through.

If you’ve spent years feeling different, overwhelmed, exhausted from masking, or wondering why life feels harder than it seems for others, you’re not alone. I specialize in adult ADHD and autism evaluations for neurodivergent adults (ADHD, Autism, AuDHD), especially those identified later in life. My affirming, collaborative evaluation process helps you better understand lifelong patterns related to executive functioning, sensory experiences, emotional regulation, burnout, and relationships. I also provide neurodivergent-affirming therapy for adults seeking support, clarity, and self-understanding. Visit ashiftinfocus for more. We don’t need fixing- even if it feels like that. Therapy is a space to explore both the struggles and the beauty of being neurodivergent, with self-compassion, nervous system support, and real-world strategies. I also offer separate adult ADHD and autism evaluation services for those seeking diagnostic clarity. If life feels harder than it should, you’re not alone & you’re not broken. Many ND adults seek support after years of pushing through, masking and wondering why nothing ever quite fits. Support can help you understand yourself differently and move forward with less shame and more ease.
I work with students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or struggling to keep up with school, work, and personal responsibilities. Many of the people I see are dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or the stress of major life transitions. Some are high achievers who feel constant pressure to perform, while others feel stuck, unmotivated, or unsure about their direction. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and support is available. I offer a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to help you feel more balanced, focused, and confident. Reach out to schedule a consultation and see if we’re a good fit.
Welcome. My intention in therapy is to create a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported. I bring curiosity, kindness, and genuine care into every session, and I honor you as the expert of your own life. My role is to be a steady guide and support as we explore what healing and growth can look like together. I draw on my experience supporting adults, adolescents, and families to help clients with anxiety, OCD, depression, and related concerns, using approaches such as ACT, ERP, and MBCT to tailor treatment. Sessions provide a supportive, trauma-informed, culturally responsive space for growth and change.

Sometimes the stress associated with being in school, learning who you are, developing relationships, and generally navigating college life can lead to feelings and experiences that are very difficult to navigate alone. Even the adjustment to college can be very challenging, and sometimes old patterns that you thought you left behind can start revealing themselves again. Perhaps new patterns are concerning you. It's okay to reach out for help. Feeling better is truly possible, even when it feels like it might not be, or that you don't really need help. You don’t have to live in pain, pretend that it’s all okay, or manage alone. Together we can find a way to more ease, love, understanding, and acceptance. The journey to self-love, healing and wholeness is full of discovery, and requires a trusting, therapeutic relationship. Finding a skilled therapist, who is a good fit for you is essential. If you think I might be a good fit for you, let's connect.
I have 15 years of experience as an LCSW-C supporting, educating and holding emotional space for young adults and their families. I have post graduate training with a Certification in Child and Adolescent Therapy, a Certification in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and am a Certified Anxiety Treatment Professional. I am also trained as an ADHD Coach for college students and young adults. I am a Certified Mental Coach for high school and college athletes. I work collaboratively with young adults and their families dealing with issues of anxiety, depression, family conflicts, sexuality, and childhood traumas. I partner with students and schools to support clients with ADHD and educational issues. I believe in meeting the client where they are and looking for therapeutic strategies that fit their lifestyle and background. Mental health is very personal, based on client experiences. I see therapy as a tool to help client identify strengths and teach effective coping strategies and skills they can apply to their lives now and for future struggles. I consider myself fortunate to be able to work in a profession that I truly love and I consider a privilege to be invited into my clients' inner lives, and to travel this journey with them through healing, change, and self-empowerment. I see therapy as a process of identifying strengths and struggles and teaching clients to harness their own power.
Great to meet you! My philosophy is simple: listen first, treat second. I take time to understand your story, explain how diagnoses and medications work, and ensure every decision is made together. You’ll never feel rushed or dismissed. I value transparency, education, and collaboration in every session. My approach to treatment: What you can expect from our first session Our first session is about getting to know you. We’ll review your current concerns, explore your history, and discuss what you hope to gain from treatment. Most importantly, you’ll be met with patience and respect. This is a space for you to feel heard, understood, and supported as we begin working toward meaningful change together. I am Counseling psychologist, and I've worked in college mental health for the last five years, first as a therapist at Syracuse University's counseling center, then at Rhode Island School of Design's counseling center. I both provided therapy, and helped train others to provide therapy. I love working with students and helping them adjust to being at a university, figuring out how to cope with the demands of college, and find their way in the university system to make sure that they have access to not just tools for their mental health- but access to academic supports, financial assistance, and resources to help them work with their faculty members. I'm a generalist- I work with people across a wide range of issues and identities, and so I really try to tailor what I'm doing to fit what YOU need. I also have specialised training in LGBTQ+ mental health and treatment for Trauma. I believe that we are whole people, and our identities, culture, and access to resources are important to understand, respond to and support in therapy. I both work to help you understand your experience so you can respond in new and creative ways, and also know and use pragmatic strategy-based approaches that give you concrete ideas how to take the next step. If that sounds like a fit for you, reach out and I'm happy to speak more!

Hello, I am an emotionally focused therapist interested in helping people improve their view of self and other, and to get more joy out of their relationships. I have a particular interest in working with couples and healing childhood trauma. Between the ages of 18-22, many people enter a pivotal period of independence and self-exploration. It is often a time when young adults begin to reflect on their childhood and family relationships with greater depth, clarity, and emotional awareness. How these relationships are processed can have lifelong impact. I can help support this reflective process so that it leads to healing, growth, and a stronger sense of self.

Hi! My name is Katie Kalina, a licensed independent clinician with over 6 years of experience. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard and healed, and that as your therapist, it's my job to meet you exactly where you're at. One of my specialties is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Eye movement (or other bilateral stimulation) is used to work on one memory at a time for the mind to heal. I have worked with individuals and groups of all ages, from children to teens and adults through anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, body image issues, relationship issues, and anger management. As your therapist, I will make it my mission to make you feel at home in our sessions. Once we meet, I will help you set goals and devise a plan that will make you transform in the ways that you wish to. Looking forward to completing this journey with you and bringing you ongoing success.
