With over 25 years of experience as a community-based social worker—and the last 7 years in private practice—I’ve developed a deep capacity for listening, supporting, and, most importantly, healing. My approach is designed to help people navigate anxiety that often arises from life’s unexpected challenges, whether big or small. I’m certified in EMDR and incorporate a range of complementary therapeutic methods tailored to each individual. If you find yourself struggling with issues that others—or even you—might dismiss as minor, it may be time to strengthen your skills and move beyond survival into a life where you can truly thrive.

My experience encompass the areas related to college readiness/preparation, pre- and post-college transitions, depression, anxiety, low self-image/self-esteem, relationship conflicts, academic stress, and bereavement. I am invested in working with my clients to provide them with the tools and skills to achieve their personal goals and improve overall sense of well-being. The therapeutic modalities I primary use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IFS (Internal Family systems), strength-based approach and psychodynamic therapy. My therapeutic approach is a collaborative effort between my clients and myself to focus on treatment objectives and achieve progress within the journey and experience of therapy. I create a warm, engaging and safe environment for my clients to explore difficult issues and open up to the therapeutic process at their own pace. I feel that therapy is a choice allowing each client to feel empowered by their decision to share in the therapeutic relationship with me. Currently, I am only conducting telehealth sessions. I view therapy not only as a means of reducing emotional distress but also as an approach to personal growth. However, I believe that therapy should not be a way of life and I therefore support clients in developing concrete skills, with emphasis on working with emotions: promoting a better understanding of emotions and emotion regulation. I view therapy as a collaborative process of exploration. I bring to this process an attitude of compassionate curiosity and non-judgment. I also draw on my own bi-cultural experience - I was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic. I practice emotion-focused therapy, which emphasizes the positive, adaptive roles of emotions. Sometimes, however, due to stress, trauma or adverse life events, emotions can become a source of distress. Through empathic, collaborative exploration I help my clients identify their authentic emotional needs and develop strategies for managing and regulating distressing emotions. If you are located in Western Mass (Pioneer Valley) I also offer walking therapy and animal assisted therapy. Therapy is my 2nd career. My PhD is in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) and my therapeutic work is informed by 25+ years of research in AI and cognitive & affective science. I am thus very familiar with academic environments and draw on this knowledge when working with students, both undergraduate and graduate.

I help people to heal from past trauma and hurtful experiences so that they can decrease anxiety, increase feelings of self-worth and develop authentic relationships. Together we will address the underlying patterns and fears that are keeping you in survival-mode so that you develop the confidence and courage to move toward the life you want to live. You may be struggling with: Difficulty in relationships or creating a healthy relationship. Constantly people-pleasing. Shame and low self-esteem. Feeling like you have to hide part of yourself. Anxiety holding you back. A challenging relationship with your body. Feeling held back in this way is deeply painful. My job is not to fix you (because you're not broken), but to work with you to address the underlying patterns and fear. During our sessions, we may explore how unhealthy patterns and limiting self-beliefs play a role in where you are struggling. I work without judgment of your truth is, where you currently are, or where it is you’d like to go. I integrate my background in energy psychology and training as a meditation teacher into my work. I blend trauma-informed, attachment, and somatic interventions into my work with clients.

Hi, I’m Sara Roesler, LICSW, LCSW, MSW, MPH. I provide a compassionate, supportive space for adults feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, mood changes, or the pressure to keep everything together. I specialize in helping people navigate the new onset of bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, or mood changes, and I also work with those managing ongoing or chronic challenges. If you are seeking to gain deeper insight into your patterns of behavior, strengthen your relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change, you have come to the right place. I work with young adults, adults, and couples with specialized experience in treating anxiety and mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, OCD, as well as interpersonal and relational challenges. I believe therapy should be personalized rather than “one size fits all.” Therefore, building trust and cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship are central to my approach. Drawing from attachment-based and psychodynamic perspectives, I help individuals understand how past experiences shape the present. I also integrate skills from evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to support emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, cognitive flexibility, and behavioral change. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Mental Health Studies from New York University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Mount Sinai Services/Elmhurst Hospital, where I received intensive training in providing individual and couples therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns, and my post-doctoral training at the Center for Anxiety, a private practice setting where I deepened my expertise in evidence-based treatment. My prior clinical training includes placements at Weill Cornell Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian and the Parnes Clinic, where I specialized in the treatment of anxiety, OCD, trauma, and relational challenges. My doctoral research examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health severity, further strengthening my commitment to understanding how individuals adapt and recover in times of crisis. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a supervising psychologist, supporting the professional growth and development of emerging clinicians. Patients often describe me as warm, compassionate, and collaborative, while also appreciating my honesty, directness, and willingness to challenge unhelpful beliefs.I ask thoughtful, meaningful questions designed to foster insight and help individuals better understand their internal experiences. I bring humor and presence into sessions, working alongside patients to identify patterns, build insight, and move toward growth, healing, and their most meaningful goals.

I've spent the majority of my career working with teenagers and young adults. Since 2020, I've been working in a college mental health center, where I help students navigate the challenges of being in academics while also attending to the complexities of life. I love working with college students and witnessing the incredible change that can happen during this important time in life. When working together, I will always meet you where you're at, help you formulate your goals, and gently push you towards values-based living. I specialize in treating OCD and anxiety, including phobias and social anxiety. My hope is that I can help you find your voice and build confidence through my compassionate, down-to-earth therapy style. I also love to infuse creativity whenever possible to help deepen the therapeutic experience and foster self-reflection.
