Beginning therapy can often seem daunting. It can be the first time you are admitting something isn’t working, or you aren’t feeling okay. I want to provide the space and time for you to sit with that possibility, work together to understand those thoughts and feelings, and use your experiences to guide you toward new, affirming spaces and connections. Together, we can support you in navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, ADHD, neurodivergence, identity and LGBTQ+ related concerns, as well as relationship challenges, family dynamics, and major life transitions. Whether you’re beginning therapy or returning to it, I look forward to connecting and working together.

Hi, I am Emily (she/her), LCSW! It’s no secret that life can have its ups and downs. Whether it be transitions, endings, or new beginnings, it is important to have people who can walk alongside you throughout all these changes; people who can see the good in you, who can be your biggest cheerleader, and who can be a place for you to lean on when you need it the most. My goal as a therapist is to provide that space for you, and to provide you with a place where you can come as you are and become who you want to be. I am passionate about working with teenagers and emerging adults, specifically those who may be experiencing a life transition, have experienced trauma in their lifetime, or who cope with anxiety or depression symptoms and disorders. I thrive when working with individuals who are seeking to build skills in emotional regulation and who want to strengthen their social skills and interpersonal relationships. I have significant experience working within the child and adolescent therapeutic space and believe that providing mental healthcare to the next generation is vital for moving society forward. I believe that the relational aspect between a therapist and client is vital to seeing progress in the areas a client desires, and I strive to be a compassionate, affirming, and honest therapist. My approach often includes humor, and I am not afraid to challenge clients when necessary. I seek to learn what makes an individual tick, what brings them joy, and to develop a deep understanding of their personality, goals, and values so they can achieve what they want from therapy. I draw from a variety of different modalities, including trauma–focused cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Each of these modalities brought together allows me to cater an environment toward each individual I work with; what may work for one person may not work for another, and it is my goal to make therapy a space that you enjoy coming to and that you feel you are able to get the most out of. I believe that each person has value and something to offer this world- it can just be hard to see that sometimes. It would be my greatest joy to walk alongside you in discovering what that might look like for you.

In Pursuit Counseling helps people navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and identity questions. Our therapists offer warm, story-centered care — practical tools and meaningful conversation to help you move forward. We believe that every person’s story holds both beauty and struggle, and that real change happens when those stories are heard, understood, and honored. Here, therapy isn’t about quick fixes or surface-level solutions. It’s about slowing down, telling the truth about where you’ve been, and imagining where you want to go next. Whether you’re untangling old patterns, rebuilding after loss, or learning to trust yourself again, we create a space where all parts of you are welcome. Together, we’ll work toward change that lasts—change that leaves you feeling grounded, connected, and more fully yourself.

Patterns and Threads: Psychotherapy & Consultation

Group practice
In-Person & Online
Chicago, IL

Patterns and Threads is an inclusive psychotherapy practice specializing in creativity, neurodivergence and embracing the unexpected. If you are creative, neurodivergent and/or anxious, your mind generates lots of ideas, which creates both strengths and challenges - whether that's in school, in relationships or in the world in general. The challenges come when who you are or how you work doesn't fit with the expectations of a traditional, neurotypical and linear structure. When this happens, we help you find ways to navigate these spaces in ways that are affirming and natural to you. We help clients reduce stress, manage anxiety and depression, and ease life transitions. Our expertise is in how these intersect when your mind (or life) diverges from what is traditionally expected. Our specialties in creativity: • Countering the impact of societal values and messages about art and creative professions • Understanding (and helping others understand) creativity as a need vs a nice to have • How trauma and shame impact the creative process • Finding your best creative environment and create flow • Perfectionism in the artistic process • Balancing product and process Our specialties in neurodivergence: • ADHD, Autism and AuDHD • Self-confidence and Self-acceptance • The impact of comparisons to neurotypical standards • Perfectionism and People-pleasing • Masking and burnout • How to get things done in a neurodivergent-friendly way • Standardized testing, evaluations and diagnoses • Advocacy and self-advocacy We'd love to hear from you. No matter what you're going through, we'll help you figure out who you are despite the expectations of others, and create your own roadmap to whatever life throws your way. Together, we'll find who you are - and who you can be - when you break out of what is expected.

Hi, I am Lily, MA (she/they)! Life is often unpredictable. We’re never given a script for “how to best live our lives,” and it can feel daunting and lonely to navigate without one. Therapy can be a space to explore the stories you’ve lived and what you want to write next, with greater trust, confidence, and attunement to yourself. As a Latinx and queer clinician, I understand the systemic challenges of living in our current environment. I’m guided by values of cultural humility and LGBTQIA+-affirming care, and I’m passionate about acknowledging systemic barriers while working alongside you to keep finding ways to cultivate hope in your life. I work with children, young people, adults, couples, and families and support them in navigating trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, identity and culture-related experiences, and more. In my practice, I use a humanistic, person-centered lens, integrated with trauma-informed and Internal Family Systems perspectives, to explore how you see yourself, others, and the world around you. I also draw from DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, and culturally responsive approaches to offer tools that can support you in making sense of past or present wounds. There can be something profoundly meaningful in having someone you can confide in, and I aim to provide a space that feels safe enough to explore what’s difficult, as well as what’s possible. I would be deeply humbled and honored to walk alongside you.

***Book a Free Consultation Online at Our Website Below On the outside, people tend to see you as doing fine – or even put-together, independent and successful. Lately, life has you feeling anxious, overwhelmed and stuck grasping for any semblance of control. No one really prepares you for the stress and confusion of the transition to adulthood – it’s a lot of pressure. How do you convince your friends, family, teachers, or boss that you know what you're doing? More importantly, how do you convince yourself? The overwhelm of reality makes you want to nap, doom scroll or binge watch Netflix for a lifetime -- or anything else that will quiet your mind. We specialize in equipping you with the tools needed to feel confident, successful, and independent -- so you can live your life without unnecessary burdens and limitations. You DO belong here and it WILL get easier, but you’re meant to navigate these things with support. Let's collaborate to build you're confidence and emotional control. We’ll break it down so it feels more manageable and work to understand everything in the context of YOU. We'll identify the "whys", practical strategies to help you manage day-to-day, and move towards long-lasting peace, balance and meaning. We’ll clarify your values & identity, boost self-esteem, & achieve a healthy study, work, life, etc. balance. Through the process, you will develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others. The anxiety, overwhelm and defeat cycle is rough. Sometimes the internal dialogue makes it seem like things are beyond repair, but we're here to assure you there is absolutely hope and resolution available to you. We'll help you along that path.

I work with young adults and students navigating life transitions, identity development, relational stressors, or mood dysregulation. I enjoy working with a diverse range of students, and have experience with immigrant, first-gen, or international students. I am a Middle-Eastern American clinician who appreciates and is curious about the impact of culture, religion, and family upbringing on my client's perspective, values, and emotional experiences. I take a trauma-informed and relational approach and classify myself as an integrated psychodynamic and humanistic therapist. This means that I put you at the center of the work we do and am especially curious about how past relational dynamics and experiences impact the way you show up today.

Whether you’re seeking clarity around a current challenge or hoping to create deeper, lasting change, therapy offers an opportunity to understand and rework patterns that affect your relationships or hold you back. With advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, I view the therapeutic relationship as central to growth and healing. I bring empathy, openness, humor, and genuine curiosity to our work. Most importantly, I believe therapy should feel collaborative—a partnership where we deepen understanding, create new possibilities, and support meaningful change.

You're juggling a lot right now. Classes, relationships, figuring out what you actually want to do with your life, maybe dealing with family stuff that followed you to college. Some days you feel fine. Other days, getting out of bed feels like a win. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety that won't shut off, the racing thoughts at 2am, the knot in your stomach before class, the way you replay conversations wondering if you said the wrong thing. Or maybe it's more like a fog, low motivation, feeling disconnected, going through the motions without really being present. We work with college students and young adults who are navigating: - Anxiety that gets in the way of school, friendships, or just feeling okay - Depression, low mood, or losing interest in things you used to care about - Relationship issues with partners, friends, roommates, or family - Identity questions: who you are, who you're becoming, who you want to be - Stress from academic pressure, career uncertainty, or feeling behind - Trauma or difficult past experiences that keep showing up - Coming out, gender identity, or finding your place in the LGBTQ+ community - Feeling like you have to have it all figured out (you don't) We're not going to tell you what to do or give you a bunch of homework. Therapy here is a conversation. We create a space where you can say the things you don't say out loud and figure out what's actually going on. We'll meet you where you are. We offer in-person sessions in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood and telehealth throughout Illinois. We accept BCBS PPO and Aetna PPO insurance and are happy to set up a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if we are the right fit for you.

You can be externally successful in life but internally worried you are going to have a total meltdown. I want to help you get better at taking care of yourself so you can achieve whatever awesome things you are here to contribute to the world. My career spans decades but for some reason the majority of women working with me are in their 20s and 30s. I help clients get some new perspective and stop beating themselves up. You may need to make some very real changes. It can be hard work but you don’t need to do it alone. Maybe you need to get better at speaking up for yourself, making decisions, managing your time. Maybe your relationship with substances needs to change. I help clients process their stress and add coping skills to build a personal routine that improves daily life. Many women I work with have gone through traumatic experiences in the past. It is important to me that the woman I am working with directs when and if we discuss the actual traumatic events. What I have learned is that adding better coping is possible with or without dredging details. Healing is possible but it takes work and support. I am also dedicated to helping clients expand their supports even if it's just a little bit at a time. I know it's tough to ask for help. I'd rather DIY everything but I know how useful it is to have therapy while you're in school. It saved my sanity when I went to therapy the first time when I was in college. For those wanting online therapy I use Google Meet for telehealth. It is completely HIPAA compliant. I also meet with clients for Walk and Talk therapy sessions when it seems useful and appropriate. College can bring a lot of change at once. You may be adjusting to being away from home, trying to keep up academically, questioning what you want for your future, navigating friendships or relationships, or figuring out who you are outside of other people’s expectations. Even when things look fine from the outside, you might feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. I work with college students and emerging adults navigating anxiety, perfectionism, stress and burnout, self-esteem, identity exploration, relationship concerns, grief, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting LGBTQ+ students and creating space to explore gender, sexuality, culture, values, and identity without pressure to have everything figured out. My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-led. You get to decide what feels important to talk about and how quickly we go. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT, and relational approaches to help you better understand your emotions and patterns, identify what genuinely matters to you, and make choices that feel more aligned with the person you want to be. Therapy with me isn’t about having all the right answers. We’ll get curious together. I’ll listen, ask thoughtful questions, and gently challenge you when it may help you see something differently. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as yourself, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and build greater confidence in navigating what comes next.
