College life can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. I understand the unique stressors that come with being a college student—academic pressure, life transitions, relationships, identity exploration, and balancing it all. As a former college student myself, I bring both personal understanding and professional experience into the work we do together. I have experience working with young adults ages 18–25 and strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and person-centered modalities. I believe therapy should meet you where you are and honor your individual experiences and strengths. I would love to support you as you navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and begin healing the parts of you that need care and attention. You don’t have to do this alone.

“I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more.” - Clive Staples Lewis Beginning the process of therapy can be intimidating, overwhelming, and scary. I completely understand and have been where you are. Sitting in silence only prolongs the inevitable. Trying to resolve the problem with the help of a friend or loved one eases the burden temporarily but you may not get to the core. Working with a trusted therapist, you begin to understand your deeper thought processes, the ineffective loops you’re likely stuck in, and the fear-based thoughts holding you back. I help people struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relational conflicts. I begin where you stand now. I move slowly, gently, and respectfully towards the goals we create together. My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma, and Systemic Family Therapy. Some of my past experiences include working with individuals and couples in several private practice locations over the years, an inpatient drug/alcohol addiction treatment center, and at a U.S. Air Force base helping military members and their families. I also worked as a mental health counselor in a close-security prison for 3 ½ years helping male inmates struggling with mental health issues. A few fun facts about me: I spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and have lived in multiple countries and states. I've been married to my beautiful bride for over 20 years and we are empty nesters (if you don't count our 4 pets)!

Hi! Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and my hope is to gain your trust and build rapport. I provide therapy in a non-judgmental space to help facilitate this. I embrace “to be flawed is to be human,” and with this will focus from a Strengths perspective in our work together. My role is to help empower you to use your positive character traits to shift towards the change you want to see in life. I will incorporate mindfulness practice as well as components of Person-centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy and CBT to guide you in your therapeutic journey. My only requirements to work together are honesty and an open-mind. I thoroughly enjoy working with adults and adolescents, including those struggling with substance abuse issues.

I work with clients navigating major life changes, managing anxious thoughts, and overcoming self-doubt. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core approach, I help you explore how your thoughts influence your emotions and overall experience. Together, we’ll identify the patterns holding you back and develop strategies to challenge those thoughts.

You’re lying awake late at night, stuck in your own head, wishing you could just turn it off. The worry loops won’t stop. The what-ifs keep coming. Maybe you’re caught in rituals, mental checks, reassurance-seeking, or avoidance that feels impossible to explain to anyone else. You’ve tried to push through it, distract yourself, calm yourself down, or “be logical,” but it keeps coming back. And at some point, you start to wonder if this is just how life is going to feel. It doesn’t have to be. This is where I come in. I help young adults untangle anxiety and OCD in a way that actually leads to change, not just temporary relief. My work is practical, direct, and focused on helping you get your life back, not just manage symptoms forever. The goal isn’t to make anxiety disappear overnight. It’s to stop organizing your life around it. General therapy often isn’t enough for OCD and severe anxiety. It can feel supportive, but the patterns stay the same. That’s why I use targeted, evidence-based approaches that are designed specifically for anxiety disorders, OCD, and phobias. I also work with LGBTQ+ clients and support young adults struggling with self-harm or suicidal thoughts in a way that is honest, grounded, and focused on real change. If anxiety, OCD, or fear is running your life, or quietly shrinking it, you don’t have to handle it alone. You deserve support that actually makes sense for what you’re dealing with. Reach out to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation and we can talk about what’s going on and what real help could look like for you.

Sometimes life feels overwhelming and out of control, and it can leave us feeling consumed by stress, anxiety, anger, depression, and hopelessness. While these emotions are an expected part of life, there are times they can grow so strong and intense that we feel powerless to manage them on our own. We may see their impact on various parts of our life – family, work, social relationships, our ability to feel pleasure, and our overall quality of life. If this resonates with you, if this is what you are experiencing, therapy can help. For more than 20 years, I’ve helped individuals face life’s challenges by assisting them in understanding their own emotional patterns and supporting them in making healthy choices. With time, effort, and the right tools, you can have a better outlook on any issues that life brings your way. Feeling uncertain and unsure where to start? Give me a call or message me to schedule your first appointment. My Experience and Practice Throughout my 20+ years of experience in community mental health, I have provided individual, family, and group therapy to adults and families with various diagnoses, struggles, and difficulties. My specialties are mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, personality disorders, self-esteem, adjustment issues, life transitions, and women's issues. I tend to have a more eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from multiple modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, as well as various trauma therapies, including Trauma-Focused CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy. What to Expect: You determine your treatment goals, and together, we will identify the steps needed to reach them. Our work together will focus on developing the skills and tools necessary to effectively manage your emotions, handle distress, problem-solve, and have the life you want. We will work on improving those areas of your life that feel like a struggle. As you gain insight and understanding, self-growth occurs. With that growth comes change, and, in that change, you will find your life worth living. Life may feel dark now, but brighter days are ahead. Services are available in my office in Evans, GA, or via a secure telehealth platform. Insurance accepted: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Oscar Health. Private Pay Session Fee: $140 for a 50-minute session.

Treatment Philosophy We are a counseling practice and professional team that believes in developing personal, caring relationships with our clients. Time after time, clinical studies have proven that success in counseling isn’t about theory or techniques. It’s about relationships. Specifically, the relationship between you and your clinician. We strive to make counseling a uniquely helpful and positive experience. A one size fits all approach doesn’t work. If people are individuals, shouldn’t counseling be individualized? We will work together to construct an approach that fits your needs and create an experience that helps you achieve progress. Our treatment philosophy values a strength-based outlook. In other words, while we’ll carefully consider your issues and concerns, we’ll also spend a considerable amount of time leveraging what you do well and how to build on those strengths using scientifically supported counseling techniques. Counseling doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out process to be helpful. Sometimes all it takes is a small step in the right direction for you to move forward in your life. For more information on individual counseling, couples counseling, marriage counseling, career counseling, and psychological testing, please click here. What Makes Us Different? Client care is our highest priority and it shows in everything we do. We offer direct care and support from start to finish. You’ll have a real conversation to help determine which therapist will be the ideal match for yourself or your family’s needs. From that point on you’ll schedule directly with your therapist. You will always be cared for by a licensed professional. We are a treatment team. We regularly consult with each other on cases so that you’ll have the benefit of the combined wisdom and expertise of all of our staff working closely together to create the best possible outcomes for you. Please know that we hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Your personal information is safe with us and stays within the confines of Focus Forward practice. Have you ever wondered whether your therapist has a job, a career, or a calling? We are a group of clinicians who are fueled by callings. We are passionate about our work and never forget the privilege we have to be able to help others. We are a values driven practice. We don’t just stick a mission statement on a plaque and ignore it. Our Mission and Core Values guide every decision we make. Mission Statement Provide outstanding clinical services in our community through compassionate, creative, accepting, and ethical relationships. Focus Forward Core Values 1. Do good. 2. Integrity counts – do the right thing every time and be true in your words and deeds. 3. Follow through on commitments to clients and colleagues. 4.
