Navigating the transition to college and early adulthood can be exciting, but it can also be incredibly stressful and overwhelming. Are you struggling to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, or being away from home? Do you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling down, or having difficulty sleeping? Are you experiencing conflict with parents, peers, or even professors? Are you questioning whether college is the right path for you, or if you're pursuing it due to external pressure? Everyone experiences some level of stress during this time, but if these feelings are persistent and impacting your daily life, or causing significant relationship strain, it might be helpful to talk to someone. Counseling provides a safe space to explore these challenges, develop coping strategies, and clarify your own goals and values. Our virtual sessions offer the flexibility to meet before, between, or after classes, making it easier than ever to prioritize your mental well-being as you navigate this new chapter. Do you experience anxiety, depression, or dealing with distressing or traumatic events that are causing you to feel stuck? Are you experiencing an unhealthy relationship with food or body image? Do you feel like you are dealing with toxic relationships or patterns that are keeping you from living your best life? Therapy can provide support in helping you find a balanced relationship with food and body image, as well as find ways to manage overwhelming emotions and traumatic events. It can help bring awareness to the reasons why you are experiencing these challenges and provide a space for healing. In therapy, we work collaboratively to understand your experiences as well and find ways to navigate through them. Regardless of approach, the therapeutic relationship we build together is the most important component for successful outcomes. Connection is key! We will explore your experiences from your perspective in a non-judgmental and compassionate way, then find recognized and innovative therapies that best fit your needs. I have training in evidence-based techniques that incorporate specific tools, strategies and goals, including psychodynamic, interpersonal, CBT, attachment-based and Mindfulness approaches. I also work to raise awareness of ways in which your body may hold distressing experiences in unspoken ways. Some of my clients enjoy experience-based therapeutic approaches - like those in the art therapy group I’ve led for over 11 years. And if you just need someone to talk to, and process things with, I believe one of the most important experiences for a person is just to be heard and validated. Let’s look at the range of tools available to us and then help you find your unique path to holistic healing and meaningful peace. I have over 15 years experience as a Clinical Psychologist. I have worked in a range of treatment settings from inpatient, intensive outpatient, counseling centers, and private practice. Areas of specialization include disordered eating from restrictive patterns to overeating, binge eating, and emotional eating, as well as bulimia and body image disturbances. I have a passion for helping survivors of abuse and domestic violence. I also work with a range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. I use evidence-based techniques including mindfulness and CBT, as well as incorporate creative and more dynamic strategies to facilitate the healing process. I am passionate about working with people of all sexual orientations, self-identification or lifestyles. It is my belief that it is our differences and unique perspectives that can bring the greatest healing. It takes much strength and courage to seek therapy and bring voice to difficult truths. The goal for therapy is to help support the changes that you wish to make and learn to internalize the strategies and tools needed to continue on with a happy and healthy life without the need for therapy. It would be an honor to join you on your journey.

Maybe your life looks good on paper, but things feel much harder on the inside than anyone could ever guess. You might be great at keeping up with school, work, relationships, and everything else expected of you, but underneath it all, you feel like you are going to explode with anxiety, exhaustion, and constantly trying to figure out how to keep it all together. Racing thoughts, avoidance, and emotions that feel bigger and harder than they “should be” might be getting in the way of the life and the peace you wish for. If you are trying hard to understand yourself and wondering why things that seem easy for other people feel so hard for you, I would love to help you start to sort through those challenges. I have more than ten years of experience working in schools, residential treatment settings, and therapeutic environments with teens, young adults, and families navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges. Many of my clients are struggling with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, avoidance, trauma, and neurodivergence. I work with people who are often creative, passionate, kind, and hard working, and who’ve had to learn to adapt, mask, overthink, people-please, or hold themselves to impossibly high standards in order to feel safe, successful, or accepted. I am kind, direct, and grounded in my work with clients. I won’t judge you for the ways you have learned to cope, but I also won’t be afraid to gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to create a relationship where you feel understood enough to be honest and supported enough to try something different. I believe that insight and practical skills can work together. Alongside exploring deeper emotional patterns and past experiences, I help young people build skills for managing anxiety, communicating their needs, navigating relationships, setting boundaries, tolerating difficult emotions, and handling the everyday challenges that can make life feel overwhelming.

ONLINE ONLY! In my view, psychotherapy serves different purposes at different stages of one's life. For young adults, one of the key tasks at hand is to discover their potential, talents, weaknesses, fears, wants and needs, and to manage relationships at various levels of emotional intimacy. In this process, many of us need to clarify past issues and unresolved conflicts to move forward more freely. My practice is informal, relaxed and friendly, and most of my clients come from multicultural and multiracial backgrounds, and I treasure diversity. I am comfortable working in English, Portuguese and Spanish languages.

As a clinician, I work to develop a secure and trusting relationship with clients rooted in transparency and mutual vulnerability. Using a strengths-based perspective allows me to help you to uncover parts of yourself that may have been lost due to society’s grueling demands. How can you access a deep level of emotion when you’re just trying to keep your head above water today? When you juggle your job, school, children, relationships, etc.; it can be challenging to experience moments of joy. My goal is to encourage you in your journey and make aspects of your present life more manageable.
