I work best with clients who want therapy to feel both meaningful and human. I specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent people navigating anxiety, trauma, identity, sex and sexuality, and life transitions. My style is collaborative, trauma-informed, and flexible. I pull from multiple different therapy modalities depending on what fits you best. We’ll pay attention to what’s happening in your body, your relationships, and your inner world. I show up with warmth, honesty, and curiosity. I believe that healing happens when people feel safe to be all of themselves: messy, soft, over the top, and everything in between. As a queer therapist, I know how powerful it is to sit across from someone who just gets it. I’m passionate about body liberation, LGBTQ+ rights, and mental health care that doesn’t pathologize people for having feelings. I believe in justice, in community care, and in showing up authentically with the people I serve. I’ve walked through my own healing journey, and that makes me deeply committed to walking beside others in theirs.
I offer individual therapy for personal growth and relationships. My practice focuses on creating a comfortable, welcoming, and grounded atmosphere for clients to grow and find meaning. My office is not a typical stuffy doctor's office experience. I believe in showing people a lot of love and lending them a compassionate ear. I look for the positive and lean more toward growth and empowerment instead of disorders. My focus is to help people live well and overcome their obstacles. Everyone deserves to find meaning and joy in their lives.
My family oriented practice is balanced between adolescents and adults. I work with individuals, couples and families. I use a variety of counseling approaches in order to best fit each individual client and their needs. My goal and desire with every client is to do my best to see the world through your eyes and understand your experience in order to best provide the kind of support and encouragement you seek. In individual counseling, I work with emotional recovery, depression, anxiety, trauma and grief. With couples, I provide marital enrichment, overcoming infidelity, improved communication and reconciliation. I support families in restoring relationships, improving overall functioning, conflict resolution and problem solving skills. I would be honored to walk with you from your current experience toward the future you desire. Helping you discover ways of being which you find meaningful, purposeful and fulfilling will be a rewarding experience for both of us. I'd love to speak with you as you consider moving forward with counseling.
I am a social worker psychotherapist with extensive experience in mental health. I have been working with individuals and families for 40 years and enjoy working with college students. My focus is on developing healthy habits and self enlightenment. I am not afraid of discussing painful or difficult issues and can handle hard emotions. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR for trauma if necessary. I encourage time in the natural world, teach mindfulness and use humor as much as possible.

I believe that we need to process our emotions and experiences through more than just words. I help clients to explore who they are, who they want to be, and how to find balance in a life that feels authentic for them. I integrate several therapeutic modalities, with a focus of shifting out of our heads and into the body.

I believe every one of us is a good person at heart, we are all trying our best and laziness is a myth. You may have a hard time believing that about yourself. You may have been taught (by families or systems) that you are bad, lazy or selfish. You are scared to make decisions or trust your intuition. You want to love yourself the way you love others! I offer a radically different perspective. I think it is possible to love yourself a little bit at a time, take things less personally and create more space in your life for peace.
I strive to provide a safe space to work through emotions and find effective ways to manage them. I help people process past experiences and current reactions that affect the decisions we make in order to promote healthy change and understanding of ourselves and our patterns. Oftentimes, we are not aware of the underlying things that influence our gut reactions which can create a barrier to us meeting the goals we set for ourselves. Counseling is a way to help you understand yourself better and to break down those barriers that stop you from moving forward. I have a wide range of experience in helping people navigate identity, trauma, anxiety, and ADHD. I like to really meet people where they are at in their therapy goals, get to know where you want to be, and help you develop skills and tools that will help you meet those goals. I am big on self-compassion and building confidence that can create success.

It can be a difficult decision or intimidating process to begin or reengage in counseling, so I am glad you are visiting my profile for the chance to learn more about me. If you are feeling stuck in your life and looking for some insight, this is a very relatable experience. I often see clients who are tired of experiencing stress, confusion, anxiety or panic, depression, lack of enjoyment, etc. These experiences may come as a result of painful or traumatic life experiences, fear of the unknown, oppressive social messages or expectations, major life changes, loss and grief... As someone who has participated in counseling as a client, I am committed to a relationship with you built on mutual trust and compassion. My goal is to help guide your ability to tap into your inner wisdom, trust yourself, and release stuck emotions, so you can feel liberated from the things that have gotten in your way or weighed you down. My greatest wish for all human beings is to experience freedom and joy. I know that taking the first step to reach out can be the hardest part, so I hope to provide reassurance and make your efforts feel worthwhile. I'll look forward to hearing from you to see if we would like to work together.
My name is Shannon (she/her), and I came into this field, as many mental health professionals do, in response to my own inner demons and trauma. I have a passion for women’s issues, the queer population, and folx affected by sexual trauma and domestic violence. I am a single mom with two small kids, two cats, and a rambunctious dog, so needless to say I understand the strain of trying to balance a busy life. My approach to therapy is grounded in CBT and feminist therapy, with a few sprinkles of radical acceptance and dark humor. I am also a firm believer that my client is the expert on their own life, and I am happy to adjust my styles and/or make more appropriate referrals when I am not the right fit.
Compassion and collaboration are key elements in growing through any life circumstance. Together, we can build a foundation to move forward with insight, hope, and change. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that brings your unique life circumstances and experiences to a safe and warm environment. While growth and change are a life-long process, each challenge can be addressed within a supportive counseling relationship to bring awareness and change. In working from a client-centered perspective, my goal is to work side by side and help you achieve the life you desire. My approach to therapy is largely client-centered wherein I strive to make each client feel comfortable and safe, while simultaneously exploring a cognitive-behavioral model, psychodynamic aspects, trauma-focused, and interpersonal interventions. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia and completed my clinical internship with college students at Georgia Southern University. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, self-concept, family/relational concerns, infertility and perinatal loss, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, life transitions, and men’s concerns. Additionally, I provide assessments in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, ADHD, learning disabilities, and bariatric assessments. Please feel free to ask me any questions about therapy services or assessment opportunities. I currently offer both in-person and virtual sessions.
Navigating the transition to college and early adulthood can be exciting, but it can also be incredibly stressful and overwhelming. Are you struggling to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, or being away from home? Do you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling down, or having difficulty sleeping? Are you experiencing conflict with parents, peers, or even professors? Are you questioning whether college is the right path for you, or if you're pursuing it due to external pressure? Everyone experiences some level of stress during this time, but if these feelings are persistent and impacting your daily life, or causing significant relationship strain, it might be helpful to talk to someone. Counseling provides a safe space to explore these challenges, develop coping strategies, and clarify your own goals and values. Our virtual sessions offer the flexibility to meet before, between, or after classes, making it easier than ever to prioritize your mental well-being as you navigate this new chapter. I work with young adults who are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, perfectionism, body image concerns, and challenges in their relationship with food. Many of the individuals I work with are high-achieving and driven, but find themselves struggling with stress, self-doubt, burnout, or feeling like they are never quite doing enough. My approach is warm, collaborative, and holistic. Together, we explore the factors impacting your mental health—including relationships, daily habits, societal pressures, and life transitions—while helping you develop practical tools to manage difficult emotions, build self-confidence, and create a more balanced and fulfilling life. I strive to provide a supportive space where you can show up authentically, feel understood, and work toward meaningful change.

My pronouns are she/her/hers. I offer both individual therapy and psychological assessment. Assessment can be used to evaluate for concerns like ADHD or autism, screen for learning challenges, track changes in neurological functioning, and more. For assessment, I see clients 5 years and older. For individual therapy, I see clients age 14 and older. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and coping with life changes. I also used to work at universities and know the unique experiences and challenges college students face. For any therapist you work with, one of the most important pieces is connection. I may not be the right therapist for everyone and that is perfectly ok. Find who you mesh with and who works for you, and you will give yourself the best chance of success! I believe that therapy is only part of your journey. When we meet, I want to know not only what is upsetting you but also what your goals and hopes are for the future. My goal is to stand with you as you gain the power to reclaim the parts of your life you want to improve. If you feel a connection with me, therapy can be a place to learn more about yourself, challenge worries, process past and current strife, and more. I can be a witness, guide, support, and collaborator. We will work together to get you through this.
