Therapists for college students near 30309
Hey, man. Your friends, family, or your partner aren't supposed to be your therapist. You need an outlet where you can be vulnerable, speak freely, and unburden yourself without any fear of backlash that could damage the relationship. You want a return on investment of the time, money, and energy that you put into therapy because that's what matters most. You need a therapist who gets you because you deserve to build a life worth living. This relationship needs to feel right, and you want a therapist who can join you through the truth, tell you like it is, and help you find the best tools for your toolbox. Usually, clients connect with me because of challenges connected to men's issues, grief & loss, emotion regulation, relationship issues, and life transitions through pregnancy and postpartum.
As no two individuals are the same, I tailor my work with each client to address the challenges unique to you. As Ward Foley has stated, "We are not given a good life or a bad life. We are given a life. It is up to us to make it good or bad." I am glad that you found this platform and have taken the courageous first step of being here! When working with clients, I focus on their strengths and their ability to create lasting change for themselves. My approach to therapy is holistic, factoring the mind, body, and spirit into wellness to help empower you. I utilize CBT, mindfulness, and strengths based approaches and provide compassion, healing honesty, and support throughout our time together. I began my career working in both inpatient as well as outpatient settings. I completed my Master's in Social Work at the University of South Carolina. I have worked with a wide range of populations facing a wide range of issues for over seven years- from hospice to trauma, crisis and substance abuse counseling in an inpatient setting, to most recently in the past two years practicing individual counseling in a purely outpatient setting. I am skilled in crisis management and trauma focused CBT having worked in an inpatient mental health setting for three years. I am very comfortable working with anyone from 18 years and up, LGBTQ friendly. I specialize in emotional and physical regulation to help manage difficult situations, depression, anxiety, grief/loss/bereavement, prior trauma/ re-experiencing of traumatic events, geriatric focused counseling, life transitions, and general stress. I am ready to help you find ways to navigate through major life changes, depression, anxiety, isolation, relationship stress, addiction, prior trauma, and many other factors that may be keeping you from thriving. You don't have to be alone on this journey. I will help equip you with new tools that will service you for years to come into being your best self and help you find solutions you already have within you but haven't been able to access. Whether you are looking for long term therapy to sort out past hurts, or short term therapy to see your way out of a difficult situation, I look forward to supporting you to reach your goals. Let's work together to understand the root of your struggles and address issues with long-lasting strategies to help you work towards the life you have always wanted!

I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate. All are welcome in my office, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.

Life can shift in ways we never expected—whether from trauma, loss, relationship changes, or mounting anxiety. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like you're just trying to make it through each day. If you're a trauma survivor, have experienced sexual assault or abuse, or are navigating a major life transition, you're not alone—and healing is possible. I specialize in working with trauma survivors using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). These approaches help reduce distress, process painful memories, and build a sense of safety and control. I also support clients experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, and major life transitions. I work with individuals and with couples. Whether you're processing the past or managing the stress of the present, therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in evidence-based care. If you're ready to begin, I invite you to call or email my office to schedule your first appointment. Let’s take that next step together!
Two decades ago, I sat where you are now—uncertain but hopeful. Today, as a licensed therapist in Georgia, I use both my personal and professional experience to help you navigate your way forward. In fact, I still see the professional who first helped me start my journey—a testament to my belief in the power of having someone in your corner. If you are curious, I encourage you to take a chance on yourself. There is no commitment—you are entirely in the driver’s seat—just a safe space to see what is possible. I built my practice to be a soft landing spot for women and LGBTQ+ individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and complex family dynamics. If this sounds like you, you are in the right place. Over the past decade of working one-on-one with clients, I have developed signature healing groups—such as Transcending Trauma, Just Between Us Girls, and Adulting After Dysfunky—because I deeply believe that we heal the same way we are hurt: in relationship. Beyond our sessions, I am committed to your growth. I actively maintain an extensive, curated resource network of books, podcasts, articles, clinical handouts, and trusted specialists who uniquely understand the needs of trauma survivors. You don't have to do it "right." You just have to show up. To do that work, we offer you a space of non-judgement (we changed this from "neutral", because life isn't). We work with you to cultivate relative therapeutic safety, promote empathy, and individualize our treatment and approach based on your journey.
