Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
Therapy shouldn’t feel like a clinical interrogation. After seven years working with young people inside Colorado schools, I know that just opening up to someone new takes incredible guts. Because effective therapy relies on a strong therapeutic alliance, I prioritize tailored human connection over rigid assessment & clinical stuffiness, laying the groundwork for us to work as true partners in the process.

Hi, I’m Sarah, the therapist at Flying Sparrow Therapy. I work with college students and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. I think therapy should be a place where you can show up as your authentic self and process whatever is on your mind. I am neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming.
As a trauma-informed therapist, my work centers on identity, healing, and relational transformation for adults working to reclaim clarity, autonomy, and emotional wellness. Whether you're navigating coercive relationships, trauma, identity loss, or a major life transition, this is a space where your experiences are genuinely understood and validated. Many of the people I work with are seeking emotional safety, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self after experiencing emotionally harmful dynamics, including divorce, narcissistic abuse, domestic violence, cult experiences, or religious and spiritual trauma. These are experiences that can be difficult to put into words, and you deserve a therapist who not only understands them but can help you make sense of what you've been through. At the heart of my approach is a deep belief in our innate human need to be authentic and free. That belief shapes how I show up for you, as a supportive, grounding presence dedicated to helping you reclaim your life, your identity, and your autonomy. Collaboration, curiosity, and a deep respect for your autonomy shape the way I work with you. Every session is built on a foundation of trust and honesty, in a space that is warm, nonjudgmental, and genuinely supportive of wherever you are in your journey. Using relational and trauma-informed approaches, we'll work together to help you better understand and reconnect with yourself, process painful experiences, and build healthier patterns in your relationships and daily life. I tailor everything to your unique needs and goals, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all framework. What matters most is that you feel genuinely seen, especially in experiences that others may not fully understand. Coercive control, emotional abuse, and relational trauma are areas I'm particularly drawn to and well-versed in. For many people, simply feeling validated in these experiences is a meaningful first step. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by both personal and professional experiences that showed me, firsthand, how profoundly relationships and social influence shape our emotional well-being and sense of self. These experiences didn't just inform my clinical focus — they deepened my commitment to creating a therapeutic space where people feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported. Warmth, insight, and an authentic relational presence are what I bring to every session. This work is not just a career; it's a calling rooted in a genuine desire to walk alongside you as you find your way back to yourself. Outside of sessions, you'll often find me reading, writing, or diving into investigative journalism. Hobbies that keep me both curious and grounded. Hiking offers a different kind of reset, one that connects me to the world in a way that carries over into how I show up for the people I work with.
Hi, I'm Margaret! I offer online therapy services to folks located anywhere in Colorado. As your therapist, I care deeply about you as a human being. And I'm here to be a soft place to land - where all versions of you feel safe, seen, and heard. I provide a warm and comforting space, so you can share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I specialize in helping clients navigate relationships (dating, break-ups, communication, etc.), anxiety and stress, college and graduate school challenges, & identity exploration. Therapy with me is a space for you to be exactly as you are and show up with whatever you've got that day, and we'll explore it together at a pace that feels good to you. I work with adults, college and graduate students, and the lgbtq+ population. My vibe in session is down-to-earth, collaborative, and low pressure. I practice from a relational approach, which means I view the relationship between you and I as the heart of the healing process! I'll meet you wherever you are, and support you in finding the answers within. While I can't take away what you're going through, I can provide a sense of grounded-ness amongst the "storm". You're worthy of feeling present, empowered, and free. Contact me to schedule your free consultation, or with any questions you have. Navigating today’s world can feel overwhelming, filled with constant change, pressure, and uncertainty—often beyond our control. Whether you're feeling weighed down by the past, overwhelmed by daily life, or struggling to bridge generational or interpersonal gaps, you don’t have to face it alone. I believe healing begins not only with safety and understanding, but also by recognizing the strengths you already carry. Learning to work with your mind, rather than against it, can be a powerful first step. I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and those navigating the complexities of ADHD. My approach is multifaceted, I use different approaches depending on what you need, offering a compassionate space to explore your experiences and build meaningful tools for growth. I'm not here to judge or be shaken by your story. As a trauma-trained therapist, I offer a grounded, supportive space to process, heal, and grow. If you're seeking better understanding of yourself, peace with the past, or tools to navigate life, let’s connect for a consultation and take the next step together!
I am a believer that we are all interconnected. Our relationships matter most to our wellbeing. And while we are living in a time where we are easily able to connect with one another, we have also never been so isolated and alone. The messages we receive from our greater systems often are at odds with what I know contribute to our wellbeing. Because of that we can often feel stuck, less than, or constantly hustling for “that thing.” We can end up chasing the wrong thing and find ourselves perpetually behind or inadequate. Our culture often places so much emphasis on outcomes, appearance, and external or material things. I sincerely believe that they are often at the root of our unhappiness. We often are doing the thing we think will help us but it ultimately harms us! We are doing it wrong. Together we will explore the often painful and uncomfortable spaces within and work from an Inside-Out approach. In doing so, we find that the storms tend to be more universal, we see our common humanity, we develop more self compassion and compassion and empathy for others. When we are our authentic selves, we become more free and our sessions will include plenty of laughing even as we dive into the parts that feel hard. We were never meant to do this life alone. And yet – so many of us are often sold on false narratives that “it’s just you” or have been invalidated, shamed, or traumatized by oppressive systems on the larger scale or within our own homes. My pride in the work is to help you become your best self, the one who is not merely living, but the one who is truly alive. Feeling it all, skin in the game, open to heartbreak, receptive to joy. Facing our pain is not easy (I know this well!). But I know deeply that when we do the right kind of hard, our efforts are fruitful beyond measure. Let’s face this together.
