Hi, I’m Lauren Hugunin, MFTC, and I know that college is a time of huge transitions—academically, socially, and personally. You might be navigating new relationships, exploring your identity, or dealing with the pressures of dating, sex, and intimacy. On top of that, shifting family dynamics can bring their own challenges, whether it's increased independence, lingering expectations, or navigating difficult conversations about who you are becoming. I provide a safe, affirming space where you can process these experiences without shame or judgment. Whether you’re struggling with communication in your relationships, working through past experiences that impact intimacy, or feeling tension with family as you grow into your own person, I’m here to support you. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Let’s work together to help you build confidence, set boundaries, and create relationships that truly align with who you are. The state of our world can be so heartbreaking that we feel immobilized at times. Much of our potential is blocked by feeling overwhelmed by the day to day challenge of struggling to advocate for ourselves in our communities, the world, even in our own thoughts and beliefs! It is easy to feel anxious, alone or ungrounded. As a therapist, I have immense respect for the innate knowledge and wisdom in each of us. I strive to create a collaborative environment in which you will feel supported in developing an intimacy with yourself and your experience, allowing you to free parts that are stuck in or burdened by past experiences. I emphasize serving individuals that experience marginalized identities and see myself as your co-conspirator. I work with issues of identity and non-normative experiences, in the context of gender, sexuality and queer experiences beyond that framework. I also work with and acknowledge the grief and trauma associated with the crises of our society, species and planet. My approach relies primarily on internal family systems or (parts work), narrative therapy, as well as Buddhist psychology. Our work together will emphasize somatic experience as a way to directly contact and understand how we are impacted by the world while developing the outer and inner resources to respond empowered with choice.

My goal is to provide a therapy space where the heart, mind, and body can come together to heal in a neutral, nonjudgmental, whole-person way. You will feel listened to and can come as you are and be accepted. Within this comfortable therapy space, you will have the freedom to be creative with your natural healing process. My intention is for you to experience and benefit from insights and therapy ideas that are tailored specifically to you. You will have the freedom to create the life you most want to live. I bring to therapy many years of professional and life experience. I have had professional experience with, as well as, in some cases, close personal association or life-experience with: addiction issues, codependency, all types of trauma and PTSD, severe mental and physical illness, bipolar disorder, depression, divorce, abusive relationships, legal difficulties, gender expression, sexuality differences, grief, elder issues, and anxiety. Every person is unique and a mystery. I love my job because it is endlessly fascinating and fulfilling to meet each new person as they are, help them explore their lives, and guide them to discover their unique path. I look forward to meeting you!

Flatirons Recovery
Flatirons Recovery provides compassionate, mindfulness-based addiction treatment services. Our treatment team focuses on healing the whole individual, instead of focusing on one specific area of a person’s life that may be problematic. We do this by working with clients to develop action plans for relapse prevention, beginning to heal trauma, learning skills for more successful coping with mental health challenges, eating healthier, getting more consistent exercise, and having fun in recovery.

You deserve to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up each day. Where you feel lighter, hopeful, empowered, and believe in your innate worth. Whether you're stressed, struggling with an experience from the past, or anxious, I would love to help you overcome your hardships while helping you enjoy the process as much as possible, and celebrate you as you experience yourself in new ways. It takes courage to call a counselor, but I hope you will take a moment (and perhaps a deep breath) and reach out to see how I can help. I look forward to hearing from you.

Somatic Spiritual Counseling - Chris Cannon MA, CAS
I work primarily in the areas of addiction, adoption, trauma, and spiritual needs. As an addiction counselor, I work primarily with young men and women struggling to overcome compulsive use of drugs, alcohol, pornography, and internet usage. This may range from life-destructive addiction to those just beginning to see that their use is bringing things they don't want. As an adoption counselor, I work to help adult adoptees confront the issues that may or may not be stemming from being given up for adoption. And as a trauma therapist, I work with the mind-body connection to help those calm their nervous system, and reclaim a clear mind. Finally, all of my work entails the use of mindfulness, and working with the body's response to the mind. This makes my approach very suitable for those beginning to connect to their own sense of spirituality.

College can be intense — full of pressure, transitions, and big questions about who you are and where you’re headed. I offer a calm, compassionate space to slow things down and be with what’s coming up, just as you are, without rushing or fixing. My work is informed by Internal Family Systems (parts work) and mind-body awareness, and is centered on curiosity, presence, and working together. I offer a 15-minute consult as a brief opportunity to connect and ask questions about working together. Students often come to me feeling overwhelmed, self-critical, anxious, or unsure — sometimes carrying stress, family dynamics, perfectionism, or past experiences that still affect them. In our work together, we move gently and at a pace that feels supportive and respectful, paying attention to your inner experience, including how things show up in the body. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on or have the right words — we listen together beneath the pressure, creating room for insight, relief, and meaningful change to unfold over time. I have over 10 years of experience supporting people through this kind of inner work. I see therapy as a place where you can feel accompanied as you get to know yourself more deeply and find your own sense of clarity and direction.

Do you have that sinking sensation that you are not in control of your own life? Your decisions are governed by hidden desires, urges, fears, and conditioning - the unconscious. If unexamined it has the terrible power to ruin you, but, if harnessed, it can be a source of incredible power, motivation, and creativity. Now is the time to take your first step towards freedom. Pick up the torch of awareness and walk, head held high, into the darkness of your unconscious mind!

I work with many college students who are needing some support, guidance, and tools that can help them navigate their current life situation. I personally understand, from my own experience at college, some of the challenges and difficulties that can arise, so there is a lot of compassion and understanding for what you may be experiencing. I also have experience working with local students at CU. College can be exciting, fresh, and new. At the same, it puts us in completely new surroundings and situations. Overwhelm is natural. To any student who is considering therapy, I hope you know that overwhelm doesn't mean that something has gone wrong. It's normal when there are so many big changes taking place. My job is primarily to listen to you, and to really try to understand things from your perspective. This in itself is quite relieving: to be heard, seen, and understood. There's no reason for you to feel completely alone and isolated in your experience. Above all, you will find a supportive space in my practice for you to be at ease and be yourself. There are many wonderful counselors out there, and many not-so-good ones. My strong advice to you is to find a therapist who you really like, and don't stop looking for one until you find them. Before and during my own college experience, I had visited several counselors who I didn't have a real connection with. It wasn't until I was 22 that I found a counselor who I really connected with. Counseling should be a very positive experience. It is a huge resource in life. Trust yourself about what feels good to you - and go for it!

I am a queer cis-woman of color, and an immigrant from Denmark and Comoros. I am passionate about fiercely challenging systemic oppression and empowering people to reclaim their innate power. As a somatic and social justice psychotherapist, I guide and empower clients in the discovery and celebration of your authentic self. Through both my work and my own lived experience, I have developed a critical awareness of the relationship between trauma and oppression. In the therapy room, you are able to gain bodily awareness and skills on how you can move more fluidly in expressing and embodying you own unapologetic truth that is too often silenced by society I specialize working with marginalized populations, including people of color, QTPOC, bilingual individuals, immigrants, queer people, and trans and gender non-conforming individuals. As a multilingual psychotherapist, I provide counseling in English, Spanish, French and Danish. I provide both in-person and video sessions. At my core I’m a human being continually learning to love all that it means to have a human experience in our crazy world. The natural world is my muse, and I enjoy live music, hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, and overlanding the American West. My personal journey through life has helped me to develop a keen interest in human emotion, thoughts, and experiences. Through an attitude of curiosity, I’ve learned to allow my own experiences, emotions and thoughts to inform my moment-by-moment existence in a way that permits me to truly love my life. Strongly influenced by American psychologist Carl Rogers, I believe each human being has a unique and individual definition of what it means to live a life they love. In order to attain this, like Rogers, I believe people need acceptance, genuineness and empathy. My approach to therapy aims to help you live a life you love by weaving in a number of modalities including DBT, ACT, CBT, IFS, and mindfulness. My methodology is grounded in psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, psychoanalytic theory, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and a relationship-centered approach to therapy. Prior to my MSW, I received my BA in Mathematics and had a career in data and analytics. I love logic and using data to inform thoughtful decision-making. In a therapeutic context this means practicing deep listening to ensure I capture my clients’ unique words, feelings, insights, emotions, and stories. Through this, I aim to support you in realizing your potential and achieving your goals. I support people and couples through a number of different mental health difficulties including but not limited to trauma, loss, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, anger, addictions, self-esteem issues, body-dysmorphia, and other life transitions.
