I do evaluations for ADHD and autism in adults. The students I work with usually made it a long way on effort alone. They got good grades, got into a good school, and figured out their own systems for keeping up. Then something changed. The workload got heavier, the structure got looser, or they hit a semester where the old tricks stopped working, and suddenly they were reading the same paragraph four times, starting papers the night before, or so exhausted after a full day of class and people that they had nothing left.
A lot of them have been told they are smart but not applying themselves. A lot of them have been treated for anxiety or depression, and it helped some, but not with the part that actually gets in the way. Many are Black students, women, or students who learned early to keep it together in public no matter what it cost. Nobody ever suggested testing, because from the outside they looked fine.
Some come to me because a friend got diagnosed and it sounded familiar. Some come because they need documentation for accommodations and have no idea where to start. Some come because they are tired of not knowing.
If any of that sounds like you, I do evaluations for ADHD and autism in adults. You do not need to have it figured out before you reach out. That is what the evaluation is for.
