Arezou Paksima, LCSW
Navigating academics and young adulthood can be a lot! Whether you're struggling with school related stress or something more personal, finding the right therapist can really help.
A little about me - I first sought out therapy when I was in graduate school after going through a painful breakup. Therapy helped me get through that difficult time in my life as well as understand myself more deeply, work through familial conflict, and grow as a person.
After about 7 years of working as the Assistant Director of a graduate program at Columbia University and doing a lot of personal growth work, I decided to go back to school for a second graduate degree in Social Work with a focus on mental health.
I've been in clinical practice since 2012 and have been working with Duke University students since moving to Durham from NYC in 2019.
My approach as a therapist is one of curiosity, connection, and compassion. I have advanced training in body-oriented psychotherapy, relational trauma, and EMDR but the most important thing I strive to provide is a place of safety where you feel heard and seen without judgement.
I offer both in-person and Telehealth appointments. My office is located right across from the Target on Chapel Hill Blvd
