I think Miles Davis said it well: Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis are about coming to see and know yourself and coming to see what limits you. This in turn will help you to create more connection with yourself and others, find more clarity, freedom and creativity, and generate more satisfaction, purpose and meaning in your life.

I have 15+ years of eclectic training, though I draw most from modern psychoanalysis. The focus in this kind of therapy is on what's going on, seen and unseen, in the present, on thoughts, emotions, wishes, memories, imaginings, bodily experiences, urges, actions. When we better see what's happening inside, we're better able to remove barriers to having a more satisfying life.

Our aim together will be to provide you more clarity, reduce distress, generate positive and lasting change, improve your connection with yourself and others, improve habits, increase enjoyment and satisfaction, and help you better know yourself and create your own evolving version of a good life. This kind of therapy is particularly well suited to address feeling stuck, depressed, anxious, if you're having difficulty adapting/transitioning, for certain kinds of addictions, for trauma, or for a general sense of unease or dissatisfaction with who you are or where you're at.

I offer virtual appointments to those who are primarily based in Maryland, Oregon and New York.
